The meaning of the phrase Jews Don’t Count is often misunderstood. It means: as a vulnerable minority. A minority that has suffered, like all minorities, extreme violence and discrimination. The assumption remains, despite history, that Jews are too powerful really to be seen in that way. Drawing attention to Jewish suffering is seen as only another example of their power, of Jews' ability to highlight their own suffering at the expense of others. Jews are not granted specificity in suffering: it must always be compared to the suffering of others, and found wanting. And if you want to see that in action, have a look at some of the responses on here - or no doubt, below this message - to the various attempts to commemorate one acute example of Jewish suffering, that took place three years ago today.
Asking Jews to pass a purity test and renounce self-determination according to a perverse interpretation arbitrarily applied, isn't just an extreme position, it’s a racist one.
That’s before we consider the Green party is now backing violent dismantling of Israel.
Such sad, sad news that Meta, the wonderful Baroness Ramsay, has passed away. She was a mentor, an inspiration and a force of nature who embodied public service in every way. Truly one in a million. I will miss her a huge amount.
Meta Ramsay dedicated her life to service and duty both before entering Parliament and throughout her time within it. Much of what she did for Britain will never be fully known, nor was it ever done for recognition or praise. It was done out of a deep sense of duty to her country
I have rarely seen the Jewish world so united in revulsion than in its response to this shameful display. Such conduct is the very antithesis of our core Jewish values and an awful Chillul Hashem.
Ben Gvir is far more than an embarrassment. He is a gift to the antizionists, antisemites, and Jew haters. He is true threat to Israeli democracy and fundamental values.
The murderous attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego was a horrific act of violent hatred, and a devastating moment for the local community. I extend condolences to the families of the victims.
I am acutely aware of the fear that this type of attack creates for Muslim communities around the world, including here in the UK.
In the face of this kind of attack, communities of faith must stand together, to demand that all people deserve to live in peace and security.
On Carnaby Street last night, a kid on a bike cycled up, saw it was me, looked friendly at first then offered up his favourite “lyric”: “Heil Hitler.” I wasn’t sure whether to share this. I hadn’t experienced that personally before. The most striking thing: I wasn’t shocked. No threat. No anger. Not a victim. Just: what has he been taught Hatred is learned. We are not defined by it. We answer it by what we teach.
I love the U.K., a man can run around the streets stabbing people for being Jewish, and the issue people debate is whether the police officers trying to remove the knife from him used excessive force. Proof that we will do absolutely anything to avoid addressing antisemitism.
It is high time we stop mincing words. @stephenpollard is absolutely right in @jewishchron: Ben Gvir is a disgrace whose revolting actions do nothing but cause profound damage to the Jewish people. This celebration of death is beneath contempt.

Purim tomorrow. Ancient Persia had Esther. Modern Iran has women who refuse to bow. If Israel or America are your excuse to abandon Iranian women, you stand with their oppressors.
Burning headscarves in Tehran tonight.
Iranians are also setting fire to possessions of the regime forces, including cars, mosques, and their homes.
They are sending Khamenei a message.
But they are also trying to send the world a message.
Please help spread it.
Given the scale of these protests now and the growing death toll of ordinary folks fighting for freedom the near total silence of the British and American celebrity class — so vocal on so many other matters — is rather striking.
I sat through 13 evidence panels on the Assisted Dying select committee and I didn’t hear a single professional Body support the Bill in its current form. The Lords must be allowed to get on with our work.
I signed this letter along with 6 other members of the select committee👇🏼
