The writer vs the writing.
(I'm not especially fond of sharing anything from my current WIP, so here's a random lil bit of river love. My River Muse is Eno River in Durham, NC.)
#WritingCommunity#amwriting
@GilmoreSlayer The West Wing vs X-files (X-Wing)? The OC vs Veronica Mars (Welcome to Neptune, b)? For a shorter run, Spaced vs Pushing Daisies (Spacey Daisies)?
I deserve 1000 cookies every time I message someone. I lose years of my life every time I press send! Or at least it feels like that. Ahhhhhhhhhh OK, I hit send, give me 1000 cookies please.
Who would subscribe to my Fashion podcast reviewing the amazing outfits on Columbo? Because I just have so much to say!!! And I feel it's an untapped area! And the fashion is so fascinating!!!!
I'm very tired of reading snarky characters. Some authors use sarcasm & insults as the mainform of humor/connection between characters, and I find it very boring & unpleasant--ESPECIALLY when it's in romance scenes!
Just let people be honest & sweet on occasion!
The alleyways in Hanoi are twisty, and full of surprises, such as this wedding arch. The alleys will be ringed with glitter for days, adding a bit of glamor to dusty streets. The confetti dances in the wind, and motorbikes honk their congratulations. Magical.
In Mexico, everywhere I went, "What's Up" by the 4 Non Blondes was playing. What WAS up with the love for that 30 year old song?!
Anyways, here in the Philippines, I'm haunted by Ne-yo. And let me say, I am now also so sick of love songs. Bring me back Linda Perry!
Lord, who let me watch Banshees of Inisherin when I'm having Big Feels about the end of a long friendship??
Amazing film, and Colin Ferrell will break your heart, though
@LLWohlwend I was a leetle shocked that I read it at 11 because reading it as an adult....boy, is it graphically sexual!! And there's definitely some problematic and triggery stuff in it! But Anne Rice can really write a book you don't wanna put down.
@LLWohlwend I was so bummed to hear multiple people say it wasn't good. I JUST reread the 1st book and was so READY for a messed up family, to see Stella and Julien, and to get some real wild stories! But I heard the family stuff is so small! What's the point!!
Nothin gives you that can't-go-home feeling like spending 3 hours tryin to find a girl detective book you loved as a kid only to discover yeah, it's great for an 11 yo who hasn't yet discovered Agatha Christie, not so much for a 35 yo (who STILL hasn't solved any mysteries!)...
I love a feel good book but I want it to be grounded in reality. I don't need my stories to be all doom-gloom, but I do need real consequences to actions, real challenges, real human reactions, messiness & struggle.
My fave realistic feel-good is Writers & Lovers, how bout u?
