Financial firm Blackstone identified Wesley LePatner as the executive who was killed in Monday night’s shooting in New York City. "Words cannot express the devastation we feel,” the company said in a statement.
Wesley leaves behind her husband, Evan LePatner, and their two children.
Words cannot express the devastation we feel that our beloved colleague, Wesley LePatner, was among those who lost their lives in the tragic incident yesterday at 345 Park Avenue. We are also deeply saddened by the loss of the other innocent victims, including brave security personnel and NYPD.
Wesley was brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm and beyond. She embodied the best of Blackstone. Our prayers are with her husband, children, parents and family.

1. Leadership isn’t about gaining power. It’s about empowering others.
2. Great leaders succeed because they bring out the greatness in others.
3. You don’t have to be great to serve but you have to serve to be a great leader.
