I agree with the second article. Eventually being a leader becomes a part of your character and personality. Leading becomes natural and influences your daily life. Acting as a leader makes you more leader like every day.

A bad leader would be Hitler. He had unreasonable hate towards many people. He was unempathic and only served himself, all qualities of a bad leader.
