Something that stuck with me from years ago- a Samoan nursing student had been asked to stay after her shift to interpret for an elderly man. Not only totally inappropriate, he was Tongan! Lets address this & #pacificpaygap to nurture & encourage our Pasifika workforce as taonga
@DegraliArt I am angry for all those who miss out on services they need just because they didn’t say the “right words” or look like the service providers wanted them to. I also know it’s because my position of privilege I am so angry - I don’t have to deal with this every day like many do
I don’t usually tell people I’m a doctor outside of work, but found myself needing to use my title to arm and protect myself against discrimination trying to get an OTC medicine today. My heart breaks for my ethnic minority sisters who also go through this, who have to use (1/2)

Important koorero including on racism in healthcare and indigenous children in state care. I’ll be attending virtually - hope to see some of you there! https://t.co/yz007yQ9IC @Paps_R@mengfoon1 @RawiriTaonui @JoannaKidman @tzemingdynasty

@BTohiariki Such a great question @BTohiariki. Would be keen to find out too - this would have been right up my ally for calculating for our region, but currently swamped doing contact tracing 😓
