Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba joined the family of the late Helao Shityuwete to pay tribute to the liberation struggle veteran at his home in Windhoek.

Pohamba expressed his condolences to Shityuwete's wife and children.

The 92-year-old Shityuwete, who died at his home on 29 August, spent 16 years in prison for his involvement in Namibia's liberation struggle alongside fellow freedom fighters.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
