@OBrienSci First up, if you all for yarn donations you will be INUNDATED with grandma yarn. If you've got no budget, it might be worth it. Potentially ask the art teacher. They may have 37 years of yarn donations shoved in a tardis-like closet, threatening to overflow & wreak havoc.

@robertkaplinsky If one person uses the machine twice as often as most users each week, are they "skewing" the data? Wear isn't an indicator of how many people, but how often a given weight is chosen. I also wonder about progression - it's also not an indicator of where people are NOW.

@BriannaShrum Oh man, I thought I was the only one to do this name thing - our younger cat (Jupiter Orion Fibonacci) is often referred to as "Shoop Shoopington, of the Bridgeport Shoopingtons" - like at least once per day. The older cat is Orbit Maxabillion the third. It's in his vet records.

@staralixstar42 @korytellers Honestly because we're so obsessed with the idea of challenge and acceleration that the idea of teens reading books for teens doesn't fit the concept. We also get stuck in the idea that academic reading is a serious endeavor & that "fun" & "complexity" are incompatible ideas.

Talk about where green spaces & trees are in your city. Where industrial centers are. Talk health care and particulate matter and food deserts. Talk water equity. Show graphs about racial inequity with traffic stops. Find a way.

This. With their statement, Scholastic chose profits and appeasement over doing the right thing. I can't say I'm surprised, but I wish they would be both creative and brave in their response instead.

This statement suggests @Scholastic only has 2 options, but here’s a 3rd. They could choose to LEAD, & be on the right side of history, by refusing to enable these discriminatory legislations. BRAVERY is hard. True ALLYSHIP requires action. I’m afraid this compromise is neither.

@korytellers My son is 100% the certain times sorry while I'm very much not. I will straight up forget to eat when I hyperfocus, or decide it's dinner time at 9pm. I'll make him his regularly scheduled meals, then stare at mine, wondering what to do with it in the meantime.
