Most of the writing rules we're taught aren't to impress readers, but to catch agents and editors. Actual readers frequently love books that break all the rules. Just look at fanfic. People will gleefully read something 100k with hardly any plot and a slow pace.

@IwasntInvited Maybe make up something about not cooking meat or having super restrictive dietary requirements. If he's made it clear that cooking is a thing for him, take the idea of that thing and destroy it. With graphic, detailed descriptions of what his favourite foods do "on the way out."

@24FPSUK That was my first Kevin Bacon film! I think Balto was my second. I would have been 10-11.

@24FPSUK Elektra was slightly better but it's not a wide margin. And the issues I saw with them were more about writing and poor decisions. The performances were the thing that stood out despite all that. Which is why I'm excited for Garner to come back. Even if it's just a cameo.

@24FPSUK A fandom remembers something like that. I absolutely admit to looking back through rose-tinted glasses. I appreciate what it was, I'm grateful for what it led to (Netflix Daredevil/Punisher was genuinely good) and I'm looking forward to seeing it revisited somehow in Deadpool 3.

@24FPSUK The early oughts era of comic book films is a mixed bag. This is absolutely one of the weaker ones but yeah, if Deadpool 3 handles it well it could be great fun. The 2003/05 films were badly written and nowadays a slog to watch. But at the time they were the best we had.
