This is a real disaster threatening our lives in the displacement camps.
As temperatures rise and living conditions continue to deteriorate, our tents have become overwhelmed by huge numbers of mosquitoes and insects, along with strange reptiles and crawling creatures that find their way into the places where children and families sleep.
Our children can no longer sleep because of the constant bites, and fear follows us day and night in tents that provide neither safety nor protection.
Our suffering is no longer limited to displacement, hunger, and the extreme summer heat. Insects and reptiles have become an additional danger, threatening our health and safety every single day.
We are living in conditions unfit for human beings, and urgent action is needed to protect the thousands of families facing these risks in displacement camps.

Israeli forces, accompanied by Jerusalem Municipality staff, stormed the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate land in Silwan. They expelled the Church's representative, confiscated equipment, uprooted trees, destroyed crops, and fenced off the property.

🧵THREAD: The June 18 U.N. Security Council briefing on Gaza was requested by all 10 non-permanent members of the Council and supported by four of its five permanent members. The United States was the only member that did not back the request.
The session included briefings from U.N. humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher and Oxfam’s Bushra Khalidi, who warned that the Gaza ceasefire was failing and that Palestinians were being denied the conditions necessary to survive.
Country after country, alongside the U.N. and Oxfam, warned that Israel is deliberately dismantling the conditions needed for life in Gaza. Speakers described severe restrictions on humanitarian aid despite a nominal ceasefire, and criticized efforts to condition reconstruction and recovery on Palestinian disarmament.
We’re sharing key moments from the session below:
1. Full remarks from U.N. humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher:
I don’t know if the world knows that the torture in Gaza has reached this level of brutality or not. One of the cruelest and most horrific things we are suffering from right now is trying to leave Gaza for medical treatment abroad.
The crossings allow only 20 patients to exit per day, while there are more than 20,000 war-injured and cancer patients in extremely urgent need who cannot wait even a single day. Any delay means death, amputation of limbs, or irreversible damage.
When we divide the numbers, we need more than 1,000 days nearly three yearsof deadly waiting. Every day, patients die slowly while waiting for their turn that may never come. Some have lost their eyes due to untreated infections, and others have had their limbs amputated after wounds turned into gangrene.
Cancer patients endure unbearable pain as the disease eats away at their bodies without medicine or chemotherapy. Many die every day without any treatment. What is even worse is the cruel game being played with our lives: a patient gets approval after months of paperwork and hope, sells everything he owns, borrows money, then the phone suddenly rings: “Your request is rejected.” No reason. No explanation.
My friend was approved, prepared himself for treatment despite his critical condition, then they suddenly rejected him. As if our lives are toys in their hands. The wounded are rotting alive amid the rubble and destroyed hospitals. We cannot travel, we cannot escape death from the bombing, nor from the slow death caused by untreated injuries.
We are trapped, waiting for our fate according to arbitrary decisions that see us as nothing but numbers, not human beings.
Let me explain this notice.#Israel has installed giant cranes in #Gaza equipped with cameras and guns. They fire haphazardly into #Palestinian areas, most of which consist of tents since Israel has destroyed most of Gaza.
That's in addition to the drone warfare.
Israel has become so cowardly they don't even use snipers to kill children. They do it entirely by remote control. Contemptible.
I was walking alone in the streets of Gaza City a short while ago, late at night. I did not expect this brief walk to become one of the most difficult moments I have experienced since the beginning of the war.
The city is completely engulfed in darkness. There are no streetlights, no lit homes, and no signs of normal life. Among the tents spread everywhere, rats were moving in large numbers, as if they had become part of the daily scene people have grown used to seeing.
I saw people lying on the sidewalks and sleeping on the roads because they had nowhere else to go. I saw a man searching through garbage bags in the dark of night for something to ease his hunger or meet his family’s needs. Along the roadside, dozens of people sat outside, escaping the suffocating heat inside the tents, which have turned into ovens with the arrival of summer.
I also heard the sound of a severe, continuous cough coming from inside a tent an elderly woman coughing in a way that reflected deep exhaustion, as if her body could no longer endure, with no medicine or ability to help in that moment.
In the midst of this darkness, I heard babies crying because there was no milk available, and a young girl screaming from inside a tent, crying to her mother because insects had bitten her feet again for the second or third time that night.
I returned wishing I had not gone out that night. I realized more than ever that this city no longer resembles the life we once knew. What is happening here cannot be understood through images or numbers alone. Anyone who wants to see the true scale of the suffering must see Gaza after sunset, when everything disappears except pain.
