@praisethel0rd25@TateTakes @Will482979 @TheDunkCentral@esidery I’m not comparing the content of the sexualities themselves. I’m well aware of what you said. I’m comparing the origin of them.
A good faith discussion about the morality of homosexuality can’t happen until the statement “people don’t choose to be gay” is disproven.
@landigwo@TateTakes @Will482979 @TheDunkCentral@esidery If I believe something is wrong and has consequences, the way I would show care is by talking with them about it. It doesn’t come from a place of hate or disgust or judgement, but the media and X would like you to believe that it does.
@landigwo@TateTakes @Will482979 @TheDunkCentral@esidery As for the second question:
Let’s say you have a friend who is taking steroids. It’s what they want to do, but they aren’t aware of the consequences. You still love and care for this friend, but you still tell them they should stop because you know it has long term consequences.
@hyvrsal@dragoondoom@TateTakes @Will482979 @TheDunkCentral@esidery That is not what I’m talking about. You are saying homosexuality is not a choice, and pointed to genomics. I’m saying that the genomics has only been proven to account for at most 25% of the variance in homosexuality (not 25% of the population).
@hyvrsal@dragoondoom@TateTakes @Will482979 @TheDunkCentral@esidery The genomic evidence states that it at most accounts for around 25%. If it were truly genetic, we would find a correlation much stronger than that.
I’m not arguing that people don’t have predispositions to homosexuality, I believe they do. So it being nature doesn’t matter.
@TateTakes @Will482979 @TheDunkCentral@esidery It is your own view that is inconsistent. Both of these are sexual preferences. Why would one be “born with” and one not?
@TateTakes @Will482979 @TheDunkCentral@esidery And people aren’t born gay. Thank you for helping me prove my point.
They both result as a product of the environment they grew up in, the genetic predisposition to those tendencies, and the culture of the greater society.
@hyvrsal@dragoondoom@TateTakes @Will482979 @TheDunkCentral@esidery It being seen in nature does nothing to prove that (animals make choices too). Neither does genomics.
You are presupposing your moral framework to say “it isn’t a choice”, just because you see it as good. Yet you would say pedophilia is a choice, becuase you see it as bad.
@hyvrsal@dragoondoom@TateTakes @Will482979 @TheDunkCentral@esidery My argument was not arguing the consequences of those actions. I was arguing the “being gay isn’t a choice”, because no discussion can happen until that point is disproven.
The more interesting discussion is what you are pointing out, but too complex to have over X.
@dragoondoom@TateTakes @Will482979 @TheDunkCentral@esidery Not my argument. Never said that. You intentionally took the most bad-faith interpretation from what I said. Try again, and try to engage with the substance of what I said.
@TateTakes @Will482979 @TheDunkCentral@esidery Do you think pedophilia is a choice? Do you think promiscuity is a choice?
Just becuase people have desires to do something doesn’t make it inherently okay. It also doesn’t mean it is just “who they are”.
@LizzieMarbach There are bad immature men out there. We know this. They want a non-committed relationship for sex, and when these women entertain them, they get exactly what they want.
Women need to stop chasing these men and giving them what they want IF they want marriage.
@frittyboditty@BoilersInStands@joejacksonCBB@kraigbowers34@GBraggsJr23@BraggsInStands Those shots came off the dribble with 39 minutes of playtime with high usage behind him. The issue isn’t his shooting, it’s the amount he’s expected to play for us that wears him out when we need him most.
He RARELY misses open catch and shoot 3s, arguably the best on the team.
@LeTSConnoisseur@lancelachlan@elonmusk The world will only then continue to become more dystopian if there isn’t the man power to fix it. How do you intend to fix the problem if there is no one here to fix it?
Your approach is literally giving up on humanity.
@anectdotey@CounterTyrannyX@lancelachlan@elonmusk But again, that’s just what I value. I’m not going to try to convince you that you should think differently, because I don’t know your values and this isn’t the place for that kind of discussion.
@anectdotey@CounterTyrannyX@lancelachlan@elonmusk Having a kid is both selfish and selfless. It’s impossible to objectively determine for all humans which one it is because it is based on what you value as a person.
I would argue not having kids is selfish, because you are intentionally weakening younger generations.
@Doyiiena1@CoryOsborn_@lancelachlan@elonmusk How do you think the world will get better if no one has kids? Who will be there to continue and improve the world we know?
No one. No one will be there.
If you really have a negative outlook on the future of the world, then it should provide MORE reason to have a child.
