Zelensky:
There are countries that are not ready to believe Russia is very dangerous for them.
They understand that Russia is dangerous for Ukraine, for Western values and perhaps for the Baltic countries and Poland.
But they are not ready to believe that war can come to their own homes, their families, their countries or their cities — until it actually happens.
I had a good meeting with the President of the European Council, António Costa @eucopresident, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen @vonderleyen. Right now, there are no signals from Russia that it is ready to end its war. The signals it is sending point to something entirely different and certainly do not bring peace any closer. After overnight Russian strikes on energy infrastructure, Russia carried out a horrific strike on Kharkiv this morning. Two people have already been reported killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Seventeen others were injured. Russia also struck a shopping mall in Rivne and energy facilities in four regions.
European leadership is needed to ensure that people's lives are sufficiently protected from this Russian terror. We appreciate that everything we agree on is implemented promptly. Today, we discussed further assistance, first and foremost for our energy and air defense needs. We talked about support for our financial resilience, including for next year, and coordinated our work on the European integration track. It is important that new negotiating clusters were opened this week. We are working to open the remaining two by the end of the year. Thank you, António! Thank you, Ursula! Thank you, EU!
Russia launched 39 ballistic missiles and more than 120 attack drones and loitering munitions against Ukraine overnight, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
“Russia deliberately targeted energy infrastructure with a ballistic missile strike, despite the ceasefire on energy facilities called for by the US president. The scale of the attack was a deliberate show of force. Russia has never displayed such blatant disrespect toward the United States,” Zelenskyy wrote.
According to the president, more than 600,000 people are currently without electricity, and further power outages may affect even more people.

"Ukraine has not conducted strikes on Russian oil refining or energy facilities overall for two days since the President of America announced a ceasefire in energy. However, Russia did not comply with the President of America. During this time, the Russians attacked both our energy facilities and our critical infrastructure, sending entirely clear signals that they do not intend to refrain from striking Ukraine. Over these two days alone, 19 regions of our country came under attack. Our position remains unchanged: Ukraine is ready for mirror de-escalation steps, and effective pressure on Russia is needed to ensure de-escalation occurs. Wars end when the aggressor feels they no longer have the capability to drag the war out." - Zelenskyy.
At around 6:00 a.m., Russia launched a missile strike on Pryluky, Chernihiv Oblast. One missile hit a five-story residential building. At this time, the bodies of three children have been recovered from under the rubble, and the death toll has risen to nine people. Another 38 people were injured, including seven minors. Rescue workers are operating on-site.
Pryluky, Kremenchuk, Oleksandriya, Dnipro, Kyiv, and other cities across Ukraine. Residential buildings are not military targets. They are the homes of ordinary families whom Russia is blatantly killing.
There is no justification for this, and it is certainly not a military victory that Russian officers can be proud of.
The war against cities is Russian state terrorism, which they carry out because they can. They can manufacture missiles and drones, fuel their aircraft, and provide the funding.
Gratitude to all who save and protect.
Bright memory of the fallen.
Overnight, russia launched dozens of ballistic missiles and strike drones targeting residential buildings and Ukraine's energy sector. There are fatalities and injuries among civilians.
The most devastating consequences were reported in Pryluky, where a residential building was completely destroyed. Children are among the killed and injured. Search and rescue operations are ongoing under the rubble. There are also casualties and destruction in other cities across the country.
"Ukraine critically needs the strengthening of its air defence, first and foremost anti-ballistic capabilities. This is not merely a military requirement — it is an opportunity to save human lives. My deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed. I wish strength to all who were injured. My gratitude goes to the rescuers, medics, and everyone currently working at the strike sites," noted Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk.
Tonight, #Russia attacked infrastructure in Kyiv and 12 regions.
As a birthday "gift" to Putin, the Russian army destroyed an ordinary five-story apartment building in Pryluky, Chernihiv Oblast.

A Russian strike against the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. A rescue operation is underway: crews are putting out the fire and searching for people who may have been trapped inside. All services are deployed. Today in Kyiv, a pharmaceutical company and gas stations were also attacked; in Dnipro, a business center; and in other cities and regions, civilian facilities, businesses, and communications infrastructure were targeted as well. Sadly, people have been killed… My condolences to their families and loved ones. Russia will definitely face a response to this. And every one of Ukraine’s partners must see from this terror, from these strikes, that supporting Ukraine means truly supporting people’s lives – supporting the principle that terror must never be normalized, anywhere. Russia must be held accountable for all of this and face real consequences. I thank everyone who helps Ukraine!
Thank you, Senator @SenBlumenthal, for calling this out for what it is.
People in the temporarily occupied Oleshky are being deprived of the basic means of survival. Russia bears full responsibility for this humanitarian catastrophe and its consequences.
The priority now is to save lives. We need urgent international action to secure humanitarian access and safe passage for civilians. The world must keep its attention on Oleshky until people there are safe.
By the way, on these very days, September 25–27, 1938, the Soviet punitive authorities placed the great Ukrainian Serhiy Korolyov on a list of arrested persons slated for execution.
Stalin’s NKVD arrested the talented aviator and engineer in Moscow, in his apartment, tearing him from the arms of his sobbing, shocked wife after a humiliating search. The charges (traditional for the era of the “Great Terror”) were “sabotage” and “espionage.”
Korolev was brutally beaten, with his interrogators forcing him to confess. The beatings were so severe that for many years afterward he was unable to raise his arms above his head. And once, an “investigator” shattered his jaw with a terrible blow from a glass decanter. And many years later, it appears that the jaw, improperly fused after the torture, became fatal to him.
But he survived, against all odds, even though he was soon slowly dying of starvation in the freezing barracks of the Gulag -- surviving so that years later he would become the mysterious unnamed “Chief Designer” behind the first launch of an artificial satellite in history.
And then, the first human being in space. And soon after that, so that one of the very first things to be heard in space would be a famous lyrical Ukrainian song -- his favorite, which he carried within him throughout his life.
There is a chapter about him in my book (I think it's among the best), as part of an entire section calle “A Great Day For Freedom,” about three great Ukrainians whose lives in many ways illustrate the fate of Ukraine itself in the mid-to-late twentieth century: the space dreamer Serhiy Korolyov, the poet-martyr Vasyl Stus, and the political harbinger Vyacheslav Chornovil.
Russia launched approximately 2,100 drones, 1,700 glide bombs, and 78 missiles against Ukraine over the past week.
Russian strikes across multiple oblasts killed and injured dozens of civilians while targeting energy infrastructure, Ukrzaliznytsia rail networks, businesses, and residential buildings. Near the Polish border in Volyn Oblast, a Russian drone strike damaged a gas station and set a train locomotive on fire.
“Russian terrorism is a shared threat for many, but it can and must be defeated in Ukraine,” President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram on Sept. 13.

This week alone, Russia launched around 2,100 drones against Ukraine – a significant share of them jet-powered “shaheds,” which the Russians are using in an attempt to cripple the economy and destroy people’s lives. The enemy also used nearly 1,700 guided aerial bombs and 78 missiles of various types.
Last night and this morning, energy facilities, Ukrzaliznytsia, businesses, and ordinary residential buildings came under attack. Odesa was attacked with missiles and drones. Recovery efforts are ongoing in many western regions following the overnight strikes. In particular, all necessary services are working near the Polish-Ukrainian border in Volyn, where the Russians deliberately burned a train locomotive and damaged a gas station in a drone strike.
It is precisely to prevent these strikes from spreading further into Europe that Ukrainian men and women fight every day, give their lives, and do not allow the aggression to expand. Russian terrorism is a common threat to many, but it definitely can and must be defeated in Ukraine. Thank you to everyone contributing to the protection of Ukraine’s skies and supporting our people.
Sybiha says Russia’s strike on the Yahodyn border crossing is Putin’s terror knocking on the doors of the EU and NATO. He urges partners to act now with a full trade embargo, a full entry ban, and full sanctions on Russia’s military industry.
