Chronic illness creates a double bind most people never notice.
The more private you are about your symptoms, the less people believe you.
The more you share, the more you’re judged for talking about it.
There’s no winning.
Invisible disabilities exist.
Dynamic disabilities exist.
People with the same disability but different severities exist.
Better days and worse days with disability exist.
You cannot always judge someone’s disability just by looking at them. And you shouldn’t. Their abilities are none of your business.
@Aspirelounge Tried to book today
It isn’t accepting any one, even though I’ve been sat in a chair outside it observing & it’s virtually empty & turning paying customers away!!’ I just wanted a comfy seat with my poorly leg!

Be nice today to do anything today without bursting into tears at the sheer cruel, vindictive & sadistic unfairness of it all.
What do I say to my disabled daughter about her future? What do I say? How do I tell her the future under this government is one they don’t want her in?
The Disability Action plan was published by the government this week.
Opening line: “This government is determined to transform the everyday lives & experiences of disabled people for the better.”
We don’t believe you. ALL Under your watch 👇
Data analysis shows 80% of secondary pupils with 10 or more suspensions also had SEN identified at any point in their school career. Most on SEN Support—an avalanche of unmet need https://t.co/17Sb6MIvjH
Excellent piece by SEND parent Rachel Filmer on @SpcialNdsJungle about the narrative and culture growing in some local authorities and believed by some national politicians about disabled children and their families. Warwickshire is not unique. https://t.co/9pnfOx3qby
5 yrs ago we petitioned Government for a specific minister for Disabled children & families.
We garnered hundreds of thousands of signatures & delivered them to Downing St.
It was disregarded.
It was essential to have a minister then..
It’s imperative now.
The thing is, it’s not JUST Warwickshire is it? So many hold these discriminatory views & think it’s OK to voice them. Just because they are ignorant & / or want to gaslight / deflect. It’s all over in schools / LAs. Ignorance / or actually deliberate. It’s not just Warwickshire.
