BREAKING: @Starlink discovers the telecom sharing economy.

[Micky (Mr Telecom) Watkins @MrTelecoms]

Welcome to the sharing economy, @elonmusk🤝

@Starlink is the best network ever put in orbit. Since 2021 it has been the backhaul for the largest sharing economy ground network in the world. Ours.

170,000+ community owned AirNodes across Africa, Asia and the US. The people who host them get paid for connecting their neighbours. The people who connect get an opportunity only half the world has today. Communities living in Swiss cheese coverage are whole again.

Below: North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. @SpaceX's Mike Coryell led the Starlink and Powerwall deployment. We worked alongside his team to connect the disconnected and made the rollout more efficient.

We bet on this model in 2018. We were right.

Connectivity is a human right.

New York, Dallas, Miami all in 3 days. Five more States to go. We’re cooking BIG time.

“It’s connected.”

After the earthquake in Darién, Colombia, World Mobile and our partners helped people get back online.

A working connection meant a way to check in and let someone know they were okay.

All accurate. Still being built, before anyone asks. Good digging, @hopenothype_io .

Some of our best announcements happen in other people's timelines.

After the earthquake, people arriving in Darién from surrounding communities needed a way to contact family.

World Mobile's first AirNode went live at the Centro de Integración Ciudadana, giving them free WiFi to make that call.

The earthquake damaged more than homes.

On 10 August, 1,929 mobile sites experienced failures. Part 2 of World Mobile field story shows what that communications loss meant in Darién.

World Mobile Colombia: Deployment Site #4

We deployed on the exterior of the police station at the Central Park square in Calima.

This is a place where locals and tourists gather to shop, play games and spend time together. It’s a key location for daily life in Calima.

[World Mobile @WorldMobileTeam]

Not everyone who grows the network needs to own the hardware.

One person can own an EmberNode in Pakistan distribution layer. Another can introduce the operator who does.

Own the route, or open the door.

Here is how both paths work.

Community effort in action.

@WorldMobilers , @ChristianRees and community volunteers have installed the first AirNode at the main relief centre in Darién, Colombia.

The team is working to bring free WiFi online so people can contact family and friends.
