1️⃣When you only think about yourself ⏩generalize your perspective to others you're not practicing compassion
2️⃣You're projecting your feelings
3️⃣This will manifest an emotional conflict between my perspective & yours which is unkind

The fundamental law for leaders is
Be Kind!
@ThorbenEgberink For people who suffer from Fibromyalgia working out is:
- Painful during the workout
- Painful after the workout
I socialize with my personal trainer to get through the workout hour & to try to shut down the pain.
Working out helps me manage my illness but it's anything but fun.
@itsmeivoo That's not true. The time you spend improving yourself is time that isn't billable.
The question is what is the ROI you get by investing in yourself.
I had to take a break from Twitter due to a mental health crisis.
I admitted myself voluntarily to the hospital but after eight miserable days I found the treatment there inadequate so I discharged myself.
Instead, tomorrow I am going to a retreat for a month to find balance.🤞✌️
@IAmAaronWill I'm going to disappear for the next six months because I burnt out so bad I had to go to the ER.
My first month is going to be in a retreat.
What should be the focus of my second month?
Everyone tells you to disappear for 6 months to change your life.
But they never tell you what to do in those 6 months.
Here's what to actually do during that 6-month disappearance.
A Thread.
Recently, what self-control I can muster is used to contain the rage I feel towards my abusive, mentally-ill parents.
Usually, I suppress that rage and channel it into compassion but these days, I am just unable to do so.
How do you remain compassionate towards your abuser?
@timokonkwo_ Mind map all the data points I have and label them using a color-based relevance system.
Red for seemingly unrelated facts, Yellow for possibly related facts, and Green for absolutely relevant facts.
@theriovertoli You can't do it on the long run.
Trust me, I've been there.
How long do you have until she retires?
Taking care of my wife and son is more than enough pressure to motivate me.
You need to increase good stress (eustress) and reduce acute or chronic stress.

@theriovertoli Working twice as much to earn enough money to retire your mother may seem as a motivator but it's one that will burn you out if you feel like you're constantly failing and you will fail to improve.
Fix the problem in some other way. You'll feel better and free.
@theriovertoli Your role as a child and responsibilities are to love, learn, improve and grow, not to provide money.
It turns the table around. If you want to fix this, you can move with her elsewhere where social services will allow her to finally retire.
