The Government of Saint Lucia extends solidarity to the Government and People of Jamaica as Hurricane Melissa intensifies and approaches landfall. We share in the region’s concern and stand ready to support our Caribbean brothers and sisters during this difficult time.
I am now in St James where we are continuing our damage assessment.
The residents here have suffered significant damage including severe flooding.
Despite the difficulties the Jamaican spirit shines through as a strong reminder that we are a resilient nation with the capacity to triumph over adversity.
Today, I’m pleased to announce the launch of https://t.co/DLpVpnsuOv, the Government of Jamaica’s official platform to coordinate relief, mobilize support, and manage recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Melissa.
The site allows users to donate securely, submit pledges, report emergencies, and locate nearby shelters. It is designed to serve Jamaicans at home and abroad who wish to assist with national recovery efforts.
Please remember, if it doesn’t end with .gov.jm, it is not an official Government of Jamaica website.

Born in Argentina, Pope Francis was the first pontiff from the southern hemisphere. His election in 2013 reflected a broader geographical shift in the church https://t.co/bmbzb4RZRY
France notes they’ve contributed $10M to @MSSMHaiti and goes into a list of other contributions. Once again it’s trying to respond to critics including in the U.S. circles who accuse the European nation of not contributing enough given its historical ties to #Haiti.
Effective governance depends on social capital & institutional trust, both of which are repeatedly undermined by conflict & deliberate destabilisation. You can’t build stable systems on a foundation that’s constantly being shaken. If global actors expect more, they must do more.
China's rep to @UN tells Security Council: "#Haiti must shoulder its own responsibility as a sovereign nation, it bears the primary duty of governance."
The Regional Integration Unit, Office of the Prime Minister Saint Lucia is pleased to share highlights from the 48th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, featuring major decisions that will influence regional development.

This evening, I had the distinct honour of being hosted at a private dinner by Prof. Benedict Oramah, President and Chairman of Afreximbank, alongside the incredible team at Aquarian Consult.
As we gathered at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, the atmosphere was one of vision and purpose. It was a true pleasure to engage with leaders who share a deep commitment to building stronger bridges between Africa and the Caribbean.
Our conversations reaffirmed that this is just the beginning of something powerful. The future of collaboration between our regions is bright — and St. Kitts and Nevis is proud to be at the forefront of this new chapter.
The belief that someone can claim a Caribbean identity without acknowledging the role that colonialism as well as the active resistance to oppression plays in crafting who we are, is a grave injustice to our people. It reeks of ignorance & unfamiliarity with the topic at hand.
This is our time! Saint Lucians are celebrating a remarkable streak of victories. This has been a challenging year IYKYK, but we've risen stronger, embracing every major win with pride. A small but mighty nation, our commitment is unwavering & our greatness knows no limits. 🇱🇨🇱🇨
My mother is passionate about minimum wage and so am I. I was working part time at Valmont at 16 and was already making more than she did.
She was embarrassed.
It’s not nearly enough but it’s a start. The exploitation in this country runs so deep.
Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre will address the nation on the implementation of the new minimum liveable wage on Monday night at 8 pm. Be sure to tune in!
As we continue to celebrate our signatories, today, we shine the spotlight on the nation of #SaintLucia. Find out more about this initiative and the country in this video! #signatoryday
