Mentoring a young man who wants to go to medical school to become a neurosurgeon.

He's anxious and unsure about his chances for acceptance - almost to the point of being insecure about it.

Knowing something about him, I laughed.

Here's a bit of background - this young man lost both parents in HS to cancer and was left financially strapped. He attended college and wanted to play soccer; but they wouldn't take walk ons. So he tried out for football - and he earned a spot as a walk on.

At Georgia.

He became the first Indian American to play for an SEC team. He also earned a national championship ring.

The odds of getting a walk on spot at a D1 powerhouse like Georgia is less than 0.5%. The odds of getting accepted to a US medical school is 35%.

I think he's going to be just fine. Go get em big K! (And GO DAWGS!!!!)
