I have never met Abraham luzzi but I have listened to 1 or 2 videos of him explaining stuff and yes, lots of logic applied therein!

Since he is wants to become a city leader, I would love to sit down with him to discuss 4 major reasons why people migrate to cities.

Every aspiring leader must be engaged during campaigns not after about what value they will bring to Kampala.

A capital city of any country is a potential economic power of a nation and an economy is basically a collection of businesses.

The number one factor that brings people to a city or any urban area is economic( call it earning opportunities).

People generally speaking migrate from places of none or less economic opportunities to places of more economic opportunities.

Therefore, everyone aspiring to be a leader in the city must have evidence that whatever they do, economic opportunities will be top priority.

The other factors all depend on factor number one because it’s the factor that raises money or necessary resources to facilitate good education, good health systems and security.

Anyone aspiring to be a city leader be it LC 1 to 5, mayor, member of parliament must exposed enough internationally especially about how cities position themselves for opportunities.

They must know how cities market themselves, how the follow data and apply it. For example, how many hotel rooms does our city have? What are their occupancies, which months, how people are employed etc.

How many shopping places does Kampala have? Who shops in Kampala? What can we do for more shopping to happen in Kampala? Which nationalities spends on city shopping from which country and how do we attract them to our city Kampala or Arua or Mbarara.

What activities should we as a city support every month or week so that many people are attracted to our city so they can spend on it?

I have always given you New York as a city, first week of September there is New York fashion week, that attracts 100s of 1000s who spend millions of dollars that week in New York.

The second week, New York tennis open and UN week, billions of dollars are earned from delegates from all around the world even from Ugandan delegation( our delegation spends millions of dollars during the UN week.

First week of Nov , New York City marathon, 1bn dollars is earned that week of the marathons, they attract massive spenders and then us we wait to borrow from them instead of learning how they earn so we can earn too!

The voters play around during campaigns and expect an economic miracle when the campaigns are done instead of demanding proper explanation on what those intending to lead will do. Then we think we are victims? Total nonsense!

It should never be about who complains most or shouts most or fights most but one who can apply logic. You can’t help a city grow economically when you have never transformed a kiosk into a mini super market, never!
