@ChrisO_wiki In the early 1990s I spent some time at an agricultural lab in Gatersleben, Saxon Anhalt. It was near an old Soviet military base. It was chained up. As we drove past it, my German host laughed and said “They suddenly left!”
@BeRuzzia There’s a chapter about it in this book, Fallout by Fred Pierce, describes how the Soviet authorities waited a week before evacuating the local population, letting them drink & use the radioactive river water in ignorance
Totally surprised to find this dung beetle, the endemic British Scarabaeidae Psammoporus insularis on a beach at Banff, Scotland last weekend #beetles#coleoptera#insects 🪲😀
@IMcMillan @R4TheVerb@BBCRadio4@BBCSounds Who can write a poem about Leuchars?
It might progress to be a libre lucha!
For inspiration I tried being a map user
But will poesy failure make me a bad loser?
😂🙄😉 @donpatersonpoet
Shocked at the time to find this Lomechusa beetle under a log on the ground, with ants. Found while helping look for spiders in a park in Notts last September #beetles#coleoptera#insects
