RELIGION IN THE 2026 CENSUS

There will no single "Christian" tick-box on the upcoming Australian Bureau of Statistics 2026 Census form.

Instead, specific Christian denominations will listed individually, and a general write-in option is provided for others.

When the national Census takes place on 11 August 2026, the religious affiliation question will feature tick-boxes for individual major groups rather than a broad umbrella category for Christianity:

Listed Christian Denominations: Catholic, Anglican (Church of England), Uniting Church, Presbyterian, Greek Orthodox, and Baptist.

Other Major Religions: Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism.

No Religion: Included as a response option.

Other - specify: A free-text field where respondents can write in specific denominations not listed (such as Maronite Catholic or Ukrainian Orthodox) or write "Christian" if they prefer a general identifier.

OBSERVATIONS / QUESTIONS:

* Why are they chopping up Christianity only, while keeping the others as solid, cohesive blocs?

* Where are Sikhism and Judaism?

An innocent 72 year old grandfather, Mario Roggero, is being dragged to prison for 14 years and 9 months.

Why?

Because three armed thugs broke into his jewelry store, held a gun to his daughter’s face, put a knife to his wife’s throat, beat them, and tried to destroy his family.
