Lil announcement - since the beginning of the year, I've started working on Onramps here at Coinbase!
We say this all the time as an industry, but onramping (aka buying stablecoins/crypto outside of a centralized exchange) still hasn't been solved.
The biggest complaints I usually hear are 2 fold:
1) Still *expensive* -> Why does it cost me $5 + 2% to go from USD -> USDC?
2) The transaction itself just *fails* -> Why are my transactions getting rejected all the time? There's several reasons for why this happens specifically to onramps today, which I'll cover as separate deep dives.
Coinbase Onramp now supports Google Pay. 🚀
@moonshot integrated our in-app headless onramp last year to bring Apple Pay funding to their iOS users. Now they're extending it to Android with Google Pay.
Fiat-to-crypto without ever leaving the app. ↓
Meet Coinbase for Agents.
Give your agent its own account to:
→ Execute trades & manage your portfolio
→ Run autonomously under guardrails
→ Pay for data & research tools via x402 (coming next week)
Agentic finance is here, and it's powered by Coinbase.
You’d be an idiot to not take Kindred’s money at seed. Kanyi and Steve have the sharpest product minds in the business, and Corgi probably wouldn’t be here without them!
Our new @CoinbaseDev portal is looking awesome! It's the best place to build in crypto.
It gives access to all our powerful developer tools (wallets, payment APIs, x402, etc) in one dashboard. You can even launch a branded stablecoin, backed 100% by USDC.
It’s been an immense pleasure collaborating with the team at Checkout.
Now, 1,000+ merchants can accept USDC+USDT via @Checkout.
The best part? Merchants still settle in USD.
Crypto infrastructure is at its best when it's so seamless you don't even notice it's there.
Today @MeckaAI is announcing $60M in funding to become the data and deployment layer for physical AI
This raise will allow us to scale our data infrastructure, invest into new verticals, and deploy robots into the real world
Jamie Dimon hating on @brian_armstrong, claiming Brian’s “full of shit” is quite possibly the greatest de facto endorsement of a CEO in FinTech history.
