Several of us have been working with @uiowaeye Dr. Alward (aka Glaucoma legend) this year on a new resource for resident education. It is an addition to the Iowa Glaucoma Curriculum in the form of an anki (flashcard) deck.

Tips for GoodRx:
When you’re hit with an unexpected price at the pharmacy counter, don’t be too afraid to say “do you mind if I take a moment to look up a GoodRx coupon?” I stood to the side while the tech helped another customer. 1/x

Yeah, I felt a little uncomfortable asking the tech to take my coupon and apply it to my med, but in the end I saved $50! $50 that I could have just spent without realizing it. When you’re on a tight budget, that $50 is a grocery trip. Totally worth the extra time

I have spent over $100 unnecessarily over the last few months on Rx because I was flustered at the pharmacy counter and didn’t think about GoodRx or think I could take the time to look up a coupon. I’m well versed in the medical system and I still make mistakes that cost $$ 3/x

Watching people who have no ability to retake CS ever again now not be able to literally get jobs because they have a “fail” on their transcript while people I KNOW who failed Step 1 or Step 2 Ck but retook and passed matched is frustrating

I can’t tell you the soul crushing nature of my DM’s right now. This system, being 350K in debt with no ability for many back up options (outside of residency) is absolutely harmful.

It contributes to the self harm and SI of so many applicants.

I just saw a dude in the airport walking around fully without a mask on; then watched him put on a MESH mask. I told one of the airline employees but I feel so bad that airline employees have to be the ones to confront people
