In my MSc thesis, I argued that the fact that Kampala and big parts of Uganda are considered "low seismic" areas actually makes Kampala a highly vulnerable place in case of occurrence of seismic events of varying magnitudes.
Most people think wealth is built through perfect decisions. Derrick Kayobyo's journey suggests the opposite. Before building a real estate portfolio with @Kayoproperties2 worth millions of dollars, he lost 600M UGX in a land scam, watched his workshop burn down, and had to start over more than once. Every setback forced him to rethink how he approached money, partnerships, and business.
In this Uganda Edition, he shares the lessons that came from those failures, why Uganda's property market continues to attract investors, and how he turned Airbnb, land flipping, and construction into a thriving real estate business.

On the Dangote led Refinery in East Africa:
· Location will be determined following research being undertaken by Dangote. Mombasa, Lamu or Tanga are lead contenders
· Project expected to cost anything between US$16.0 billion & US$20.0 billion
· Kenya's newly set up National Infrastructure Fund will co-invest in the refinery, deployment not disclosed
· The National Infrastructure Fund currently has US$1.0 billion (Kenya Pipeline proceeds). In another two or so months, ~ US$2.0 billion is expected (Safaricom Plc partial divestiture proceeds)
· GOK believes that with ~ US$3.0 billion worth of seed capital, it can build the fund to ~ US$30.0 billion (10:1) crowd in factor
· National Infrastructure Fund to invest 20.0% (~ US$300.0 Million) in the planned new Nairobi Airport
If you work remotely with a monthly income of $2k - $3k, there is no point staying in Nigeria to face daily gbasgbos of power, landlord, Egbon adugbo, etc

Former Zimbabwe Cabinet Minister Dzingai Mutumbuka came face to face with Zimbabwe's hyper corruption when fraudsters in collusion with the Deeds office forged title deeds to his US$600 000 Chisipite house in Harare and sold it. As if this was not enough, High Court Judge, Justice Chinamora who resigned last week just as corruption investigations were to start against him issued an order on a technicality for Mutumbuka to vacate the house and allow the buyer Marange to move in. The order was given when two suspects Prosper Biziweck and Tatenda "Shaft" Wakatama in the forgery had been arrested and were already appearing in Court. Mutumbuka said he had to see President Mnangagwa and he told him that unless he addressed corruption in Zimbabwe his great effort to develop the country will come to zero. He said he is luck to have salvaged his house so far because he is a well known man and a former Minister. He sympathised with many people whom he said are not known and are losing properties at the Deeds office in this manner. He called upon authorities to descend heavily on the Deeds Office which he accused of assisting fraudsters. The suspects are appearing again in court on November 29, 2023. @edmnangagwa@MoJLPA@JudicialWatch@JSCZim@daddyhope@matigary@zanupf_patriots @ZanuPFYouthLeag @nelsonchamisa@CCCZimbabwe@Internews@ZiyambiZ@GPokoto@Jamwandaa3@SADC_News@Josephkalimbwe1@_AfricanUnion@euinzim@nickmangwana
