Transplant nephrologist at Wake Forest, former @EmoryNephrology, @VUMCKidney, @UCSFNephrology & @BUMCMedicine, tweets are my own and not medical advice!
Thank you @ASNKidney & KidneyCure for this award that will support my project aiming to improve cardiovascular outcomes in kidney transplant patients!
Extremely grateful to my mentorship team at @UCSFNephrology!
Our letter in the Washington Post advocates for broader access to GLP-1s so that patients with obesity and end-stage organ disease can have improved access to transplants.

@kidney_boy@hswapnil@valerie_luyckx@eric_weinhandl@kidney_boy any tips about best way to get bexa when SGLT2i are not covered by insurance? When I checked GoodRx, it referred me to a special pharmacy that sends 30 pills for about $60 which makes it unaffordable for some patients.
@LittleBigGloms@Jwaitz@acweyand Oh that’s wonderful. Do you have a protocol for using GLP1RAs or SGLT2is in your kidney transplant recipients? What about use of GLP1RAs in ESRD patients who need to lose weight to reach a lower BMI to qualify for transplant?
@Jwaitz@acweyand@LittleBigGloms Given many kidney transplant recipients experience post-transplant diabetes and weight gain, I think these drugs could be very helpful in this population. Especially given SGLT2 inhibitors are not widely used in this population due to concern for side effects like UTI.
.@blosserc thank you for leading the @amjtransplant editorial fellowship! I’m honored to be selected as one of the @AJTfellows and excited to be working with @KristaLentine and Dr. Chadban as my mentors!
