VISAYAS ON YELLOW ALERT
Visayas
Capacity: 2,658MW
Demand: 2,492MW
As of 3PM, the Luzon and Mindanao grids are normal and with sufficient supply.
6 of 7 power plants which were either affected by the transmission incident on May 13, or were on unplanned maintenance shutdown, have come back online, contributing a total of 1,510MW back to the power system. This additional capacity, together with the typically low demand during weekends, enabled power exports from the Luzon grid to the Visayas grid.
The Visayas grid is on yellow alert from 5PM to 8PM, due to increase in forecasted demand by 120MW and forced outage of TVI Unit 1 (169MW), TVI Unit 2 (169MW) and PEDC Unit 3 (150MW).
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid's contingency requirement.
Barring any unexpected increase in demand or additional unplanned outages of power facilities, the power situation for this weekend is expected to remain stable.
