@cbuniversity Any updates for #Students on current strike action? Lack of communication with students is concerning; I've been through several University Strikes, and I have never seen such a lack of communication.
Unlike footprints in the sand, our digital one does not necessarily disappear. What do our students need to know about their digital footprint and how it might affect them later in life? #IDTiPs#EDUC5131#digitalfootprint https://t.co/zFPwBeQKc6
While on devices, are we mindlessly consuming content being delivered at us a 1.5Gbps or are we actively engaging with the creation of content that increases the collective knowledge base? Active versus Passive screen time; Constructivism and Connectivism vs Consumerism. #IDTiPs
Screen-time. It's on our minds as #educators#IDTiPs How much screen-time is good for our learners (and ourselves?). All facets of our lives converge on the daily use of our devices. Technology integration and the development of digital skills is a #hottopic in #education
Yet to teach these skills to our students requires the use of screen-time, which at times, seems to "fly in the face" of what is recommended. Maybe it is not so much the amount of screen time we have in our lives, but the type of screen time? #IDTiPs
@techrankin I had to contend with dial-up and the computer being in the family room until my first year of university .. there was NO sneaking online and everyone knew when you went online as that dial tone could be heard throughout the house.
Reflecting on my #DigitalYouthood: we were never taught about digital citizenship, cybersafety, or the light and dark of the Internet. How did we as #EarlyDigitalMillennials learn how to be good digital citizens and to stay safe online? ##IDTiPs#EDUC5131
@KellyP498 CoP's take time to foster and grow - especially in an educational context. Some CoP's do grow organically (exponentially in some cases during the Pandemic), but with a group of learners - it takes time.
@ChristieNold This happens so often and to too many educators (me included). Our system is broken and is driving educators away from public service. Would be interesting to see how many of us have left public education all together.
The writings of LaFever (2016, 2017), Louie et al. (2017), Fovet (2021), and Gumbo (2020) have been on my mind as I reconsider my role as an educator and ID working towards decolonizing and indigenizing my approach to course design, writing learning objectives, and TPACK
Indigenizing the curriculum has been on my mind lately as I prepare for summer courses. Why do we as #educators and #instructionaldesigners stick with the tried as tested Western models of Blooms and TPACK? #IDTiPs#EDUC510

I've been diving into #pandemicpedagogy these past several weeks on two separate projects. Literature is still emerging from higher education's experiences with COVID-19, the switch to ERT/EDT, and re-evaluating pedagogy. Here is a smattering of must-read articles: #EDUC5103
