There was a court hearing last week for Jose Medina, the illegal Venezuelan with a criminal record who murdered Loyola University freshman Sheridan Gorman in cold blood last March.

The ARES Military Expert Council (Allied Reform and Expert Support) is an advisory body created in April 2026 by Ukraine’s General Staff. It reports to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi. Its stated purpose is to exchange Ukrainian and international military experience, support institutional reforms in command and control, develop military science and education, improve logistics and force sustainment, and provide advisory input on other matters under the Commander-in-Chief’s authority.

It is chaired by a foreign general and staffed primarily by retired or former senior officers from partner countries. Public announcements list the following members:
