@KGromnickiPNP@brownam130 Great summary of HRS. I found this flowchart for HRS used in pediatric populations to help guide treatment plans (Liu et al., 2021). #OHSUPNP2024#ACPNPChat

@MMilnerPNP Thank you for sharing! Since the underlying cause of HRS is severe liver impairment, liver tx is often the best therapeutic option for HRS. Treatment plans should be developed to increase kidney function and bridge care until liver Tx (Nephrol, 2021).

@DaniSebbens@AimeeBucci A colleague brought up a great question yesterday in class, what is the difference between Tylenol infant vs Tylenol children? In June 2011, the formulation of both products were standardized to the same concentration (160 mg per 5 mL) to reduce overdosing (Poison Control, n.d)
@AhmedQ_PNP The AAP has an updated infantile cholestasis article that can help guide clinical decision-making, testing, and includes red flag symptoms. https://t.co/hcTTs9iLbJโฆ #OHSUPNP2024#ACPNPChat@lizespinoza_dnp
@AhmedQ_PNP Ahmed, you bring up a great point. A wide spectrum of conditions can cause liver disease in infants that may present only with conjugated jaundice, but an underlying time-sensitive disorder may be present โ such as biliary atresia, metabolic disorders, and infections.
Prolonged jaundice greater than 2 weeks in a term infant and 3 weeks in a premature infant requires further investigation (Jagadisan & Dhawan, 2022). What would you do next?
Black children are 3x more likely to die from asthma related complications compared to white children. The aafa developed a road map in an effort to help reduce asthma disparities within racial and ethinic minorities.

@awatkinsPNP@lizespinoza_dnp Alyse, what a great article. Awareness and education are definitely great first steps in reducing iatrogenic fluid overload. Fluid monitoring tools are helpful but may contribute to misperceptions of FO if not consistently or properly utilized. @lizespinoza_dnp#OHSUPNP2024
Hi!
Last week I learned about fluid balance and fluid management in children. I came across a review that provides an evidence-based approach to the treatment of dehydration in children and its potential complications.
