Following the judgment, Premier Alan Winde launched an investigation into the allegations. The probe has since been completed, but both the Premier and the police have refused to make its findings public, citing concerns that releasing the report could endanger witnesses, some of whom have reportedly already been killed.

This secrecy reinforces the perception that gangsterism in the Western Cape is deeply entrenched and protected by elements within the system meant to fight it.
