Without knowing it, that day marked the beginning of a countdown to a tragic ending…

It all started with a hard and brutal tackle by Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo on Diogo Jota back in October. Incredibly, it only earned a yellow card — but Jota suffered something far more serious: a collapsed lung that silently affected him for months.

He decided to wait until the end of the season to undergo surgery during the summer break. And he did.

But that surgery made it unsafe for him to fly back to Liverpool. So instead, he set out on a road trip with his brother André, heading toward England.

A journey that never should have happened…
But became unavoidable because of that harsh tackle.
A blow that seemed to end on the pitch — but without knowing it, had already started writing the final chapter of both his and his brother’s lives.

That’s how cruel fate can be.
A tackle. An injury. A decision. A journey.
And an ending that now breaks all our hearts.
