Work to quadruple entire Grant Road-Borivali section began in late 1924 and was opened on 31 Oct 1926 by Sir Ernest Jackson. Gujarat Mail was first passenger train on the new tracks.

Special trains continued to run to and from Ballard Pier at least until 1970s. The station and tracks themselves existed at least until 1980s.
