Tras el silbatazo final del último partido de Haití en esta Copa del Mundo, Johny Placide no pudo contener las lágrimas.

A sus 38 años, el capitán haitiano disputó el último encuentro de su carrera con la selección y se despidió como los grandes: siendo la figura de su equipo, realizando 8 atajadas y luchando hasta el último segundo.

Durante casi 15 años defendió los colores de Haití en los momentos más difíciles y también en los más históricos. Estuvo cuando parecía imposible y estuvo cuando su país regresó a una Copa del Mundo después de 52 años de ausencia.

No se va con una victoria, pero sí con algo igual de valioso: el respeto y la admiración de todo un país y de millones de aficionados.
