@SinjoroMoseo@XinuMizu@NERV__DAMAGE lolk is also just not a good comparison point for touhou difficulty imo given how beyond the norm it is. but to your point SA is a very learny game with a pretty steep learning curve if you’re unfamiliar w the genre, I think satori + orin tend to wipe the floor w new people
@NERV__DAMAGE it’s really easy to cherry pick stuff like.. anything from lolk really but I think a lot of this perception of the games as ungodly difficult comes from people not knowing what games to start with. like 7 imo is much easier than 6 due to its gimmick and relatively simple patterns
@XinuMizu@NERV__DAMAGE a newer player should NOT be playing SA lmao that was one of the last games I 1cc’d. unless you just really wanna be on that grind 11 stands as one of the top 3 hardest touhous imo
@necrokuma3 I think my passion only recently died out. it’s hard to be passionate about something when my personal experience with it taught me that it was a fully fruitless endeavor. I was obsessed with art but couldn’t find my footing
@necrokuma3 Yes, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to grasp them but it’s hard for me to even understand what “practicing” them looks like. like with the fundamentals it always seems to boil down to “just do it a lot and something will make sense eventually” which doesnt give me much direction
@necrokuma3 I want to get better but I’ve already wasted so much time doing it “wrong” and I just have no direction. nothing seems to help and it’s incredibly frustrating
@necrokuma3 -eventually someone tells you “uh you were obviously using the wrong heat.” and then does not tell you the correct heat lmao. that’s what the experience has felt like for me, just constant time investment for no outcome because it won’t click
@necrokuma3 -I would say I didn’t have a particular style or subject that really made me passionate about the craft. I just wanted to be able to draw out my ideas but the actual process felt so arduous and unfun and I wasn’t sure how I could make it fun
@necrokuma3 my only real burning desire was that I wanted to make comics, but of course that requires quite a lot of skills to work when you can’t draw people lol. I tried to build up by just trying to understand form or draw people, but I hadn’t figured it out. it is true though that-
@necrokuma3 I can’t really fathom what “learning art” looks like. ofc the concept of “you need to actually understand the drawing” is sensible but… I don’t know how to do that lol. in all that time it never clicked and I was never able to make anything without just copying a ref bar for bar
@necrokuma3 right, I get that, but “learn fundamentals” is itself directionless imo. every time I watch a tutorial or breakdown or anything claiming to teach these fundamentals it seems to boil down to “just do it until it makes sense.” obviously I tried that for a long while, no luck
@natisneato Zelda 2 is honestly really fun if you know what you’re doing. Can’t say the same about Metroid 1 or castlevania 2 imo. I love castlevania 1 and 3 but 2 is annoying if you don’t know what you’re doing and boring asf if you do
@obsessivetea Essentially I think my problem in general is I don’t know how to learn things as I always stagnate incredibly fast in anything I try without a direct tutor. sadly I don’t have art classes near me or anything so I don’t think I can really rectify it
@obsessivetea – see in tutorials / drawings I try to copy. I tried for years to “get” it and just had no luck. The cooking analogy is pretty on point because I have in fact also wondered how you’re supposed to learn how to cook and instead just default to following recipes bar for bar
@AyushSe42042570@fabascalo I don’t really know how to explain how it’s possible because I don’t know how it’s possible to improve lmao. stuff just never clicked for me, but I wish it did
