New: In a @statesman op-ed, the Republican author of Texas' concealed handgun law @Patterson4TX argues the federal agents were wrong to shoot Alex Pretti.
"ICE is needed, but not this ICE. This ICE and its leadership need to go — now." #txlege

Kash Patel: "You cannot bring a firearm, loaded, with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want. It's that simple. You don't have a right to break the law." (Pretti was carrying a gun legally.)
Earlier today, DPS joined the Outdoor Advertising Association of Texas and State Rep. @DonnaHowardTX to launch a new partnership that will bring the Keep ‘Em Safe, Texas billboard campaign to more Texans across the state.

I just donated to @KimsMom3 campaign for Congress. Rhonda is a gun violence survivor who experienced the unimaginable and has been a fierce advocate for gun safety ever since. She’s so smart and tough - support her today! https://t.co/27wJFPLLYr
There aren’t words for the pain and horror inflicted by police and then by policymakers on Uvalde families.
All I offer is to be an advocate by their side as long as it takes.
Our statement on the report reviewing the Uvalde shooting released by the Department of Justice. We demand accountability and justice for the Uvalde survivors.
A dozen people were selected on Jan. 19 to serve on a special grand jury that is expected to spend at least six months studying the May 24, 2022, Robb school shooting investigation. About 300 people were summoned and 67 appeared.

No matter how we got to this place — and I'm sure it was well-intentioned at every turn — no one can credibly argue that a gun owned by 6% of gun owners is "common."
Or that the Uvalde gunman should've been able to access it.
The Founders wouldn't see this and say "well done!"
The ACLU of Texas will continue to work closely with ACLU National on other critical issues facing our state. Yet, in this moment, we join the @NYCLU and other affiliates across the country in clearly stating our dissent.
The people of Texas come first.
In light of today’s release of graphic mass shooting images by @washingtonpost, my heart is with the families of Uvalde and every surviving family of gun violence.
The State of Texas has gone to massive lengths to cover up its abject failure in the response to the Robb Elementary shooting. Sadly, this is the first time Uvalde families are seeing these images, a full 18 months after the massacre.
It is beyond insulting that state officials robbed these families of their dignity and ability to view these sensitive images in private, should they have chosen to do so.
Our fall event, A Safer Texas, was an opportunity to come together to pause, reflect, & celebrate the progress that we’ve made together. Saami Baig, Co-Executive Director of Houston March for Our Lives, spoke from a high school student’s perspective about gun violence prevention.
The 3rd Special Session has adjourned Sine Die and vouchers are dead — again. I’m proud of the bipartisan, pro-public school majority that stood up to ensure all Texas kids are able to receive the education they deserve. We won’t back down. #txlege
