Here to help fellow working dads protect the money they've earned for their family. Dad of 4. Cleared £29k of debt without earning more... just kept more of it
Money Saving Tip for Cold-Hearted Dads:
Warning… this one is HARSH (on the kids)
When my son was 3 years old, he started to recognise the “Ice Cream Van” music.
“Daddy! The ice cream van is here!” he cried out in sheer joy…
Only to be met by my “Sorry mate, that music means they’ve sold out”
🤣🤣🤣
Literally, all 3 of my kids believed for over a DECADE.
We only told them the truth because we thought they’d figured it out.
They hadn’t!
🤣🤣🤣
Must have saved us hundreds over the years.
Please tell me you (or your dad) did something like this…
@MoneyQuotesX It's OK to still want lots of something that isn't "everything," though!
Plus, when you diminish the importance of money, you don't treat it with enough respect.
You spend more.
You don't track it.
You lose more without knowing.
Respect money, and treat it well
@GuyTalksFinance My tip:
Just start with one thing.
I tend to fail if I try to change too many things at once.
But, when I focus on just one thing, I succeed.
Then, when your new habit is formed, add in the next thing :)
@theficouple Just want to say that you can still be doing great without those things.
Yes, it'd be awesome to have them all.
But if you don't, that doesn't mean you suck.
You can be happy while having an alarm clock (most people have one!)
Governments have the same money problem as most other people:
Horrible spending habits.
Ain't what you earn, it's what you can keep.
HOWEVER - Governments should not have the same spending habits as a regular working-class family.
They should do better. Much better.
Jeff Bezos: "If people want me to pay more billions, then let's have that debate, but don't pretend that that's gonna solve the problem. You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens.... Airbnb isn't causing high rents. What's really causing high rent is government intervention."
