The concern we should have is the non-participation by so many in the democratic process, this despite voters’ choices arguably not having been as wide for a generation. 31%, 38%, and 58% turnouts - the latter in such a high profile election - mean, overall, 1-in-2 didn’t vote.
When you realise you can do your first date all over again: same play, same theatre, and ….. same date! 😉 Just a pity The Brooklyn Diner isn’t around any more for the pre-theatre! 🤣
Enjoyed @matthewsyed, as usual, but was equally impressed by @DrJoGrady, on tonight’s @BBCNewsnight. Good combo, largely respectful discussion, including where they obviously disagreed. p.s. I think Jo was right, Matthew’s comments on the Goodwin piece seemed detached from it.
To have voted in a General Election where a leader won a majority, then survived the whole parliament as Prime Minister, you’ve to have been born pre-1984. That’s how unstable government’s been for two decades, and reflects how unrealistic people are as to how long change takes.
It's around now that two oft'-used phrases will make their normal appearances: "He who wields the knife never wears the crown.", and "The first rule of politics is to know how to count." Though not always true, both are cautionary tales worth thinking about.
@peterlynas I agree, and hope the same mobilisation of people, and persistence, will continue to be seen to this end, and all who argued and lobbied for a “No” vote won’t now simply go back to their homes, organisations, ….. and churches. For imago dei read WWJD.
You have to feel for Antonín Kinský. 22 years old. I know it’s elite level, professional sport, but even the Atletico Madrid fans - who displayed real humanity in applauding him when he was substituted - understood what a tragedy the first fifteen minutes were for a young man.
Another helpful, long-form, discussion, this time @WesleyLHuff in conversation with @StevenBartlett.

Enjoyed @IPPR’s @carsjung’s contribution on @SkyNews this morning, commenting on the Spring Statement. No drama, no exaggerated language, just answering questions and providing requested commentary. Pleasant change.
This is, again, and more than who voted for who, the really concerning part of engagement in the democratic process in the UK. More than half of those asked in the constituency today about the result, didn’t exercise the franchise that was so long fought for to give them.
Just watched @WesleyLHuff in conversation with @ShawnRyan762 on the @ShawnRyanShow - really enjoyed it. Great and honest questions, serious and informed answers, and worth a watch.

@DundeeFC Conceding a goal after the 80th minute (and notwithstanding added on time) is sadly a carry forward from last season. Different manager, largely different players, but same problem. I daren’t refresh my feed when games go into the last ten minutes!
