Episcopal priest who loves the Bible. Vicar of Tombstone, AZ. Aspiring Classics grad student. Scholarly interests in Germanic Alpine cultures. 🇩🇪 🇦🇹 🍺 🥨
This story from Grimm’s deserves a lot more attention: King Thrushbeard. An arrogant princess accustomed to soft living is forced to undergo a transformation of character through great hardship. An ambitious suitor is determined to win her hand. Western folklore at its finest.
Pastor @matt_everhard, this one really surprised me. Good job. I only landed 1 kickflip when I was 13 years old. I'm 50 now...maybe I'll buy a Walmart grade skateboard tomorrow to try to match you.
Getting my kickflip back at age 50…??? https://t.co/AfcLD3AXnm via @YouTube
@AlabamaAnglican This might be a generational matter. Millennials seem to be much more open to making personal dance videos. The rest of us grew up watching Soul Train. 😂 Seriously though, TEC still has tradition dignified churchmen among clergy. The Rev. Gavin Dunbar comes to mind.
@AndrewForFaith This was promised to happen repeatedly in the New Testament. Paul to the Ephesians elders. Christ mentioned the wolves. The book of Jude. Etc.
@wyclif Same for me. I read it because its aesthetics is unsurpassed in beauty, and it’s the most valuable cultural treasure of the English language. It’s faithful and accurate to the original languages. Use this translation for classical Christian culture and the finest liturgy.
Many people do not seem to want data centres built near them, despite the fact that they don't cause that much traffic and often generate a lot of local tax revenue. I suspect it's partly because they're ugly! My proposal:
@American_Johnny I’m becoming more and more convinced most of the criticisms of TEC are a form of sheep stealing. An effort to steer faithful Christians away who otherwise would have a positive influence in the Episcopal Church.
I'm confident enough in what I know & my skills that I have no need for AI in my work.
I'm old enough that I don't care about having " the latest thing"
Maybe it will cost me lost money, but I do know is if I were to use it for my art it would cost my soul.
No AI posted here.
@AndrewForFaith I’m Episcopalian and believe the Bible 100% as best as I can understand the divine Author’s intended meaning. I believe the Bible literally. TEC has been a wonderful church home for me, and I pray we have a glorious future spreading the gospel of Christ. Please come check us out.
@ErikBootsma@TACollege Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, CA. I’ve walked around that campus many times to hike the creek trail. Definitely the best Catholic and liberal arts college in America. Magnificent chapel.
@ErikBootsma I’ll cheer your former team at Glavé & Holmes for the beautiful parking structure in Williamsburg.
Here’s the Derby House in Salem. Just as beautiful as can be.
@matt_everhard There’s a higher ideal and possibility for the biblical languages, and many are pursuing this approach. Namely, SPEAK and THINK in ancient Greek for real fluency. No more Machen-style translating as a coping mechanism for not knowing the languages. Shame on the seminaries.
