You don't need to apologize for being compensated based on the value you provide. You provide value, and it is fair that you be compensated for it. Your customer is receiving value, and you deserve to be compensated; THAT is a win-win!

Make sure what you do in the short term is setting you up for the best in the long term. Ensure today's actions maximize the potential return in the future. Focus on the activities which will increase your profits in the long-term, and set you up for the life and future you want.
When making improvements, it is often wise to develop and implement a short-term and a long-term strategy. For some things, we may need and be able to achieve immediate results. But other strategies require a longer horizon. Do both for the best long-term results.
Eliminate "customer agitators". What is a customer agitator? It's anything that agitates the customer! Look at your customer satisfaction surveys and look for trends. What are they consistently complaining about? Then go find a solution and eliminate the guest agitators.
