ISRAEL ALMOST STARTED A WAR WITH TURKEY, AND NO ONE, NOT EVEN TRUMP, SAW IT COMING…

Israel’s strike in Syria almost started a war with Turkey, and Trump’s Special Envoy just gave me an extraordinary account of how it happened

According to Ambassador Tom Barrack, Israel received intelligence suggesting Turkey might be moving military assets onto a Syrian airbase.

Washington checked, and confirmed it WAS NOT happening.

The concern was communicated, the intelligence was examined, and Syria believed the issue was being handled through diplomatic channels, including a two-hour backchannel discussion between Syria’s foreign minister and the head of Mossad.

Then jets appeared anyway, and Israel struck the runways without notifying either Washington or Turkey.

That's where this stopped being another Israeli strike on Syria and became something potentially far more dangerous.

Turkey saw the aircraft approaching and, not knowing their purpose or target, began confronting the possibility that it would have to scramble its own jets.

It could have triggered a direct military confrontation between two of America’s most important regional partners, one of them a NATO member.

Asked why Israel would take such a risk, Ambassador Barrack offered two theories.

One was a catastrophic breakdown in communication between Mossad, the IDF and Netanyahu’s office.

The other? “The Israelis were baiting the Turks.”

My bet is on the latter…

Behind all of this sits an even bigger strategic contest.

Ambassador Barrack says Israel wants Syria kept clear of military systems that could interfere with its access to Iran, describing Syrian airspace as providing Israel with a “clear line of sight to Iran.”

Turkey, meanwhile, is becoming increasingly entrenched as a military and political power inside the new Syria; so this wasn’t simply another airstrike.

It was a glimpse of the fault line emerging underneath the post-Assad Middle East: Turkey wants to help build and secure the new Syria; Israel wants to ensure that Syria can never obstruct its freedom to strike Iran.

For a few extremely dangerous moments, those two ambitions appear to have nearly met in the sky.

And next time, cooler heads may not get there first.

Cooper’s wife, Amy Jeffress, served as counsel to the January 6th Committee, has worked as Biden’s personal lawyer, and currently represents Biden in litigation against President Trump.

Between 1894 and 1924, the Ottoman Empire and its successor state, modern Turkey, carried out one of the most systematic religious and ethnic purges in modern history.

Armenians, Assyrians, and Greeks Christians were targeted.

Under Sultan Abdul Hamid II, the empire initiated its first large-scale assault on Christians, primarily Armenians and Assyrians.

In the eastern provinces, especially in Diyarbekir, Ottoman soldiers and Kurdish irregulars carried out coordinated massacres. Entire villages were leveled.

Men were butchered. Women and children were burned alive in churches. Somewhere between 100,000 and 300,000 Christians were slaughtered, an opening act to what would become a long nightmare.

The Young Turk regime, intoxicated with nationalist ideology, escalated the extermination effort during World War I.

Under the cover of war, the Armenian Genocide was launched. 1.5 million Armenians were deported, starved, raped, and murdered.

As Ottoman forces crushed resistance and restructured the empire, they turned against the Assyrian and Greek Christian populations.

In Pontus, Ionia, and Thrace, Greek communities were subjected to massacre, forced deportation, and labor camps.

The burning of Smyrna in 1922, under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s command, marked the final expulsion of Greeks from Asia Minor, ending 3,000 years of Hellenic presence.

In Hakkari, Tur Abdin, and northern Mesopotamia, Assyrian Christians were annihilated village by village.

Entire dioceses vanished. Ancient monasteries were looted, clergy executed, and Christian communities that had survived since the apostolic era were erased.

As documented in The Thirty-Year Genocide by Benny Morris and Dror Ze’evi, these three campaigns, Hamidian, Young Turk, and Kemalist, were ideologically linked, methodically executed, and religiously motivated.

Thousands of churches were desecrated or repurposed. Christian inscriptions were scraped off stone. Place names were Turkified.

The destruction of the Christian East wasn’t ancient history, it was the first modern genocide, and it set the blueprint for others to follow. Nazi officials studied the Armenian Genocide as a precedent.

$300 billion spent lowering the number. $0 spent testing the root cause.

The operation: Prosecutors proved Michel accepted more than $100 million from Malaysian financier Low Taek Jho in a covert influence scheme tied to influencing U.S. elections.

The laundering network: Michel used straw donors to secretly route foreign cash into Obama’s 2012 campaign, bypassing federal election laws designed to prevent foreign influence in American elections.

The verdict: A federal jury convicted him on 10 criminal counts, including conspiracy, money laundering, witness tampering, and acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign government.

In other words: Barack Obama colluded with a foreign power to illegally influence and rig the 2012 presidential election in his favor.

Bernard Fisher, 1970s: the radical mastectomy had been standard for eighty years. He proved the lesser operation matched it, and spared a generation of women a mutilation nobody needed.

Barry Marshall, 1984: ulcers are caused by stress. He drank a flask of the bacteria, gave himself the disease, cured it with antibiotics, and collected the Nobel twenty-one years later.

Christopher Ramsden, 2016: the largest diet trial ever run had gone unpublished since the seventies. He found the boxes in a dead researcher's basement. The men who swapped saturated fat for corn oil had lower cholesterol and more funerals.

None of them had better equipment than the people they were arguing with.

They had the same data as everybody else and the stomach to be hated for reading it properly.

Americans Are Getting Scammed

A true story:

The Diversity Visa program has brought people from around the world to the United States, including many Moroccans. Applicants are selected randomly, provided they meet certain eligibility requirements, such as qualifying education or work experience.

One of my second cousins made it to America through a story that sounds like something from a movie. And later I discovered that her case was apparently not unique.

There are middlemen in Morocco who specialize in helping people navigate these visas. According to the story I was told, a man from Marrakech was selected for the Diversity Visa program. When he went to Casablanca to complete his paperwork, the man helping him made him an offer:

“You are single. I can find you a young woman who wants to go to America. She will pay you $5,000. Marry her, take her with you as your wife, and once you arrive in America, do whatever you want. Stay married or divorce.”

He accepted. The lady was my second cousin.

The marriage was arranged. Everyone involved knew what it was about: getting her to America.

But they needed to convince the U.S. consulate that the marriage was genuine. So the middleman coached them on what questions to expect and how to answer them. He even arranged a photo session staged to look like a traditional Moroccan wedding, complete with the clothes, customs and photographs they could present as evidence of a real relationship.

The plan worked.

They received their visas and flew to Chicago. The young woman had very little formal education and, according to my family, had left school around the fifth grade.

But the story did not end with immigration. That was only the beginning.

They stayed married and eventually had three children. According to what I have been told, the family learned how to maximize government assistance while keeping much of the husband’s actual income outside the official system.

The children were covered by Medicaid, with the government covering their medical expenses. The family received SNAP benefits and housing assistance. Meanwhile, the husband kept one officially reported job with income low enough to preserve eligibility for benefits, while doing much of his other work for cash.

His real income, according to relatives familiar with their finances, eventually exceeded $100,000 a year.

But on paper? Poor.

That difference is everything.

Cash stayed out of American bank accounts. Money was sent to Morocco. They eventually bought an apartment there in cash worth the equivalent of more than $100,000. They deliberately avoided accumulating visible assets in the United States because they knew doing so would make them lose their benefits.

Then comes tax season.

Despite what the family was actually earning, they would receive thousands of dollars in refunds and refundable tax credits. That money helped pay for airline tickets, gifts and their annual summer vacations in Morocco. Once there, they did not need much American cash because they already had money and property waiting for them.

Think about the absurdity of that arrangement.

On paper, they are a low-income American household requiring taxpayer assistance. In reality they are not.

And who finances the difference? American taxpayers.

They did not arrive in America already knowing every detail of the welfare and tax systems. They learned. People in immigrant communities teach one another which programs exist, how eligibility works, and how the system can be manipulated. When abuse becomes normalized inside a community, newcomers quickly learn from those who arrived before them.

An ordinary American works one or more jobs, pays taxes, struggles to afford rent, groceries, insurance, and medical bills, and watches money disappear from every paycheck. Meanwhile, others get into the country through fraud learn how to manipulate the system, and milk it for every penny they can get.

Americans are getting scammed!

For years now, some hospitals and healthcare providers have been subjecting children to horrific, experimental treatments in service of radical gender ideologies. Today, thanks to the Wolves in White Coats report released by @HHSGov, we know why: profit. It turns out that convincing vulnerable children to reject their gender can create patients for life, earning hospitals tens of thousands of dollars in additional revenue per child.

The report contains deeply disturbing allegations, and I encourage every American and every parent, to read it. More than just pushing these procedures on kids, hospitals and providers may have been defrauding Medicaid and private insurers by using misleading or fraudulent billing codes to get insurance to cover the costs.

An almond sold as raw in America has been gassed with a chemical the drag racing associations banned for being too dangerous to burn.

Propylene oxide. The EPA calls it a probable human carcinogen. The EU, Canada and Mexico ban it in food. America gasses its nuts with it and prints the word raw on the bag.

Steam costs a processor 2.5 million dollars. The gas costs half a million. You can work out which one is in your granola.

Every single almond carries a water footprint of 3.2 gallons.

A tomato field can sit out a drought. An orchard cannot. The tree drinks every year or it dies, so the demand is locked in whatever the sky does.

Parts of the San Joaquin Valley have sunk over twenty feet as that water came out. Roads buckling, canals cracking, the ground itself collapsing. It never rises again.

The Kern Water Bank was built with public money to hold half a trillion gallons for California in a drought. Stewart and Lynda Resnick own 57 per cent of it.

In Lost Hills, where their own pickers live, people cannot drink the water from their taps. The trees drink better than the workers, and cheaper.

Then February, when two million bee colonies are loaded onto lorries from every corner of the country.

Their honey is stripped off first to lighten the load, so they cross a continent on sugar syrup, which is presumably the cruelty-free option.

They arrive at 1.6 million acres of blossom and bare dirt, sprayed with fungicides certified bee-safe on adult bees and quietly lethal to the larvae.

January 2025, the hives came up too light and too quiet. Commercial keepers had lost 62 per cent. Around 1.6 million colonies. Over 600 million dollars. The largest bee die-off ever recorded in America.

Only a quarter of the fruit is the nut. California livestock ate over a million tons of the leftover hulls in 2022, and hulls are now the most used byproduct in the state's dairy rations.

The almond industry's biggest output by weight is cow food, and the cow was the thing you were boycotting.

As for the 2 per cent. The rest of the carton is water, gums, emulsifiers and a vitamin list.

One gram of protein a cup against eight in milk. Calcium, D, B12 and riboflavin all added in, every one of them impersonating the animal you refused.

It says plant-based on the front. In green. With a leaf.

And you feel wonderful about it, which was the product all along.
