"Black Reconstruction in America" is an informative book by Du Bois. Really teaches how slavery varied regionally and how African-Americans wanted to be a part of the American Dream. Yet, the same fears that deny African-Americans today are the same ones that denied them then.

I wish I wasn't so accurate but I also hope they took those lessons to heart and are voting this election. And not just the top of the ballot but the ENTIRE ballot.
It rattles me every time I go to take attendance I see the name of one of my former students from my first year teaching. That class I told them their first election to vote would most likely be this one and it would be an important one on so many levels.
