Two schoolgirls from Lagos, Nigeria, have invented a water purifying device which turns contaminated water into safe drinking water. The girls won the Stockholm Junior Water Prize Nigeria for their innovation which has gained global attention.
Failures do not define you. What you do with your failures and how you react to them truly define you. Do you learn and bounce back, or do you lament, claim victimhood, and join pity parties?

Today is a momentous day for @alx_africa, @guillaumesalva and I, and I am thrilled to share this exciting news with all of you. It fills my heart with immense joy and gratitude to announce that we have been granted a patent for the remarkable software that we call "the checker" and that has shaped our journey and transformed the lives of countless individuals across the globe.
I remember back in 2015 when we embarked on an audacious mission to redefine education. We envisioned a school where traditional barriers would be shattered, where formal teachers and lectures would make way for peer learning and hands-on projects. San Francisco became the birthplace of this revolutionary concept—a new type of school for software engineering was born: @holbertonschool.
But to achieve quality education at scale, we needed something extraordinary. That's when my dear friend and CTO, Guillaume Salva, and I created a groundbreaking software that would automatically correct students' coding projects. It was a rudimentary version at first, but as we expanded from a modest group of 30 students to thousands in over 30 schools worldwide, we relentlessly iterated and improved it, with the help of the entire team, including the one and only @gautie_a.
Our software became the backbone of our educational model, meticulously guiding and evaluating students' work in programming languages, coding style, commenting, and more. The impact was transformative. It empowered us to file for a patent in 2019, and I am thrilled to announce that we have now received it in the United States.
Today, our software corrects more than 1 billion of lines of code each year, enabling us to serve hundreds of thousands of students globally.
Today, our reach extends predominantly to Africa, where we deliver our program free of charge, thanks to the generous grants from the @MastercardFdn. The lives we have touched and the talent we have nurtured are immeasurable.
Reflecting on this remarkable journey, I cannot help but remember the pivotal moment when @bibicheri, a member of our board of directors at Holberton - and since, a very good friend of mine -, suggested filing for the patent. Marie, we owe you our deepest gratitude for this monumental step forward.
As we celebrate this milestone, I can't help but remember the stories we have made, the challenges we have overcome, and the growth we have achieved together. From the early days in San Francisco to joining @FredSwaniker & ALX in September 2022, every step has been a testament to the power of innovation, collaboration, and unwavering dedication.
Together, we are shaping a brighter future, one line of code at a time. Let's go! #dohardthings
