Having an“always available adult” (AAA) as a kid is associated with lower rates of unhealthy behaviors and poor mental health in adulthood. I can remember who my "AAA" was growing up and the positive impact of having her.
How do kids safely find their AAA in today's world?
Trauma informed services are informed about, and sensitive to, the potential for trauma related issues to be present in patients, regardless of whether the issues are directly or obviously related to the presenting complaint or condition.

@gerrydiamond71 Education and collaboration. Making a commitment to understanding trauma outside of the traditional roles.
For some, also putting our egos aside and replace with curiosity and openness to learn what we don’t know.
@ShannonSevigny It’s so great. I have to set time limits on myself otherwise I would spend way too much time creating things exactly how I would use them or a client would use them.
Earlier this week I had the pleasure of witnessing a client increase insight and understanding of symptoms while creating a visual to help identify underlying beliefs and meaning of the alcohol use and anger .
How else can the #angericeberg be adapted and used?
@SherryLCSW Have you seen the training out there somewhere in the online world focused on starting an adjunctive emdr program in community mental health? It seeks to incorporate emdr parts into therapy for those not trained in emdr. If only i had more time…
@CatlinDenis@VAHouston@DeptVetAffairs@VeteransHealth I had no idea there were so many apps available. I just came across RO DBT developed by Grow-RO. I will be saving this picture for possible future uses.
Is there any specific VR app you would add to this?
@KelseyCBennett I do love google scholar when searching for articles and finding the citations. It feels less time consuming checking the citations and making corrections as needed.
@KelseyCBennett did you have a preference of professional knowledge management tool when gathering information on #CPTSD EMDR, IFS and schema therapy for capstone? Or even one maybe worth avoiding?

@sasha_zabelski Thanks for sharing this intention. I chose a DSW program because I had no intention of going into academia. I had not considered this as an option. Too late to change my decision being about halfway done. I do hope to read if you write an article more on this
Incorporate a message of optimism and hope into all interactions between service-providers and clients
Resolution of #trauma is possible and best-practice trauma-informed care should consistently convey this message in all respects and at all levels.

@FranKuehn I’m curious to what others say. I’m not sure if I would say there are many differences. I wonder if this is another example of poor definitions and terminology which I feel has been very noticeable in learning about implementation science.
A new theory suggests that some mental disorders are evolved cognitive styles that benefit the group. @flipyour20_ I immediately thought of you seeing this article on LinkedIn. A shift in viewing mental illness

@radicallyopen Will a recording be posted of using the app? Challenges of living without home access to high speed internet.
I would love to see the app before purchasing. It looks like it would be supportive while learning RO-DBT.
@dominque_norman Being a new mom is challenging. Being in the DSW program is challenging. Combine them together and you are a rockstar! Maybe a tired rockstar nevertheless a rockstar!! Please don’t hesitate to let me know what you need and I’ll keep asking what you need!
@heidibil Thanks! I will check it out tomorrow. Now is the time to rest and catch up on two weeks worth of station 19 and greys anatomy. Having class back to back weeks is exhausting
Preparing myself mentally before working on my #academicposter Anyone have suggestions for creating a catchy title? This part feels more challenging than creating the text and graphic parts
"How to Find Your Power" was included in this week’s reading.
It triggered the thought at the intersection of power and trauma informed care. What happens when clients can increase their #power on their ability to make changes in their life?

Has anyone used nature guided imagery or virtual reality aimed at preventing or reducing compassion fatigue within the behavioral health profession?

I am reading and learning about Trauma Informed Care to better understand it identify ways to begin integrating into my work. I came across the 4 C's for TIC with clinical practice which started my reflection for #growth#traumainformed#traumainformedcare
