Spent today working with @MeatPoultryON in the Graeme Walker Hedley boardroom at @BeefFarmersON. I spent a lot of time in this boardroom early in my #ontag career (often with GWH himself). I appreciate seeing the room named for the late leader who did so much for the industry.

Members of the Farm & Food Care Ontario team were pleased to attend last week's event and see firsthand the continued investment in Ontario's agri-food sector. A funny delivery to the Daynard farm yesterday - vintage @PioneerSeedsCA touques (circa early 1970s) from New Zealand friends who lived/studied here 50 yrs ago. They credit these for helping them survive our winters. Back in NZ, they have no use so they returned them “home”!

I will forever be grateful that Graeme hired me for my first #ontag job (Ontario Cattlemen’s Association) in 1998. It was an incredible opportunity that set the course for my whole career. How lucky I was to have worked for and learned from him. So many will miss him.

In Kenya, coffee farms now compete with real estate—so production’s falling.
👉 500–600 handpicked cherries = 1kg of coffee
👉 1,000 trees per acre, ~16kg cherries per tree
👉 2 years from planting to beans, then decades of yield.

At the #IFAJ congress in Nairobi 🇰🇪, a session by the International Seed Federation highlights how quality seed transforms farmers’ lives. In some areas, up to 50% of seed is counterfeit — access to innovation, tech & knowledge is vital. “Without seed, we have no food.” 🌱
