The largest wasp in Nebraska, the cicada killer wasp, may seem scary because of its size (1.5-2 inches). But these wasps seldom sting people and disappear when cicadas do in the fall. Cicada killer wasps are often confused for murder hornets, currently found only in Washington.

Pull excessive mulch away from the trunks of trees. It can blow and pile up against the trunk. Excessive mulch can encourage softening and rotting of the bark during the growing season and critter damage in fall/winter.
