@mrraffel I think we can promote social bonding with partnering older classes with younger ones for activities, lunch help, bus buddies ect. Also, school assemblies to celebrate student accomplishments or to support programs such as choir and band concerts. #D54bridges

@mrraffel A3: seeing my son struggle with certain things in his schooling has made me more conscientious about incorporating things such as lap tables, more movement learning, and opportunities for them to share special skills or interests that aren’t necessarily school related.

@mrraffel A2 (cont): I like to have their peers help brainstorm ideas all together, so that if someone else encounters the same problem, they will have options too

@mrraffel A2: in kindergarten, we do a lot of brainstorming and discussions of how to solve problems. I ask the student how they can solve the problem (whether it be a social problem or what to do if they don’t have a pencil). If they are unsure, we ask the class who has ideas to help.

@mrraffel A1: I like to motivate them with positive feedback and responding with awe when they accomplish something. I also have badges they can earn with small goals leading up to a larger goal. #D54bridges

@mrraffel I like going to conferences and talking with other teachers to learn new activities, games, and management strategies to implement. I also feel I am most impactful when working with small groups.#D54Bridges

@mrraffel In kindergarten, we play a lot of games and I can convey to their interests easily by adding characters from their favorite shows or games onto the games cards, pieces, or even game boards. #D54Bridges

@mrraffel I try to relate our units to things they enjoy doing. But I focus a lot on how learning the letters and sight words will will allow them to read their favorite things all by themselves anytime they want instead of having to wait for someone to read to them.

@mrraffel We can model respect by all of our interactions with staff when students are around. But also with how we talk to our students in class, especially how we interact with a student having a tough day. #D54Bridges

@mrraffel Every Monday we do a weekend share circle and each student (plus myself) gets a turn to share about what they did over the weekend. Even if they just relaxed at home. They think it’s amazing if someone mentions something the same as them.
