Trauma:
Increasing numbers of decent folks in our world, without much choice in the matter, are facing the devastating effects of trauma. Many sources of trauma, tragically, are due to the deliberate actions of another human. A disturbing reality to comprehend.
Awful abuses. Profound violence – emotional, physical, sexual. Being persecuted. Human trafficking. Mass shootings. Entrenched prejudices. Hate-filled terrorism. Pervasive self-centeredness. The relentless addictions to power. Lies readily issued. People profoundly lacking personal honor. The cruel manipulation by others…
The Overall Question: How do we keep going within ourselves, to endure, in face of it all? As in: where do we turn to, for a sense of being profoundly understood? For inner strength, courage? Can the Son of God directly relate to any of this in our world? In our own life? Not merely up-there somewhere, but can Jesus relate in a realistic way to the personal aspects of anguish, intense grief, profound pain, the deep suffering which trauma tends to produce in any decent person?
What did Jesus face in this world? It may astound you, yet Jesus faced many of these personal aspects of deep traumas that we experience. Jesus knows.
Amidst this abiding truth, we may always approach Jesus:
Directly… Personally… Realistically

may we discern how to delicately balance, through it all.
