@FLCons@RCEY28 I first learned on a stick but I don't get the reasoning here. Most vehicles are automatic. It's like saying you should have to learn to hand-crank a Model T. It's becoming obsolete outside of specific uses or personal preference.
@MomaEVANS2@joannehuspek@tanpukunokami Not taint the meat exactly but the flood of hormones in a distressed animal can raise the pH of the meat and make it tougher and drier. For both quality and humane reasons killing an animal for food should be done quickly and as painlessly as possible.
Pretty sure this post is bull, but it should be said: even if you never plan on leaving a job, if it's not a skill based occupation, you need to learn a skill as back up. You might have good pay and stability working in manufacturing but no manufacturer lasts forever. Learn a trade or skill to fall back on.
@leisasalmons@Patriot31@nettermike She's a scumbag for sure just based on what she did publicly, but the story about POWs passing her notes is false and has been denied even by the POWs who were in Hanoi at the time. It started as an internet story long after the war.
@JillSweden1 Well we were pretty upset about unfair tariffs against us and our markets being used as a dumping ground. Which is why we are hitting back. I don't know why that seems to fly over some people's heads. Now suddenly it's "unfair"?
@KirkHerbstreit Honestly, I lost my love for MLB when it became all about big paychecks. Same with the NFL. And now it's happening to CFB. I understand why it happens in pro sports and you can't stop it. But I wish the gatekeepers had kept the gate closed on college sports.
@tanpukunokami@ladyloodeeloo Mississippi? Wow. Talk about a change of scenery. I'm sure they'll love you down there but get ready for some of the longest summers of your life.
@__shiningstarr It's one thing for some random worker at a big corporation to do something stupid. Quite different when a director does it. Can't have that.
@ZeteticAdvocate@Triops222 I was in Germany in the summer a few years back for a bit and it is true that it just didn't get as hot there as here in the States and opening windows is effective since you don't get swarmed by insects, but if I were elderly I wouldn't want to take my chances with a heat wave.
@insolitudewecry@ZeteticAdvocate That's not at all how any of it works. A better insulated house merely takes longer to get hot inside but takes longer to dissipate that heat as well. Kind of like an oven.
