Today we saw the Gigantosaurus for the first time!
We thought of words to describe him and then made marks; the children gave meaning to the marks they made to label their pictures.
Some budding little artists in the making in nursery!
Last week the children used their imagination to think what the Gigantosaurus may look like, they produced some super representations using watercolours. #eyfs#art#expressiveartsanddesign
Nursery have enjoyed being #texturegatherers this morning following @KelsallSchool's assembly. They explored the garden for different textures, choosing to focus on the colours turquoise and gold. Some great language emerging to describe the textures!
If going on a walk today why not take some snaps of textures that you find along the way? Helps you to slow down and notice your surroundings more. Be great to see some young #texturegatherers - walls, doors, anything you find looks interesting
We were greeted with a crime scene this morning in nursery!🚨This provoked some great discussion and investigation work! The children became police officers and detectives, looking for “clues” to capture the wolf and put him in jail! 🐺 #Eyfs
Saplings have been enjoying using their imagination to develop their storytelling skills, they are creating some super illustrations for their version of the three little pigs. #aloveforlearning#eyfs#earlyliteracyskills
The greatest “rainbow bunk bed house” that I ever did see! The children shared each other’s ideas and worked as a team to achieve this wonderful creation. They defined their workspace using their photo cards, taking ownership and showing pride in their work.#learningthroughplay
Over the last two weeks we have been enhancing our #messagecentre to continue to nurture and promote a love of writing. Our nursery children are developing fabulous #emergentwriting skills which they have initiated entirely by themselves! #aloveforlearning#thepowerofapostit
In Saplings today we have been learning about #remembranceday and we made a poppy wreath to remember soldiers who have fought in wars to keep us safe. We practiced our scissor skills, painting skills and we learnt how we keep safe using a hot glue gun.
It’s amazing how enhancing an area in nursery can spark a genuine child-initiated interest. The cardboard house we made, became a mark making den and this small change has rewarded us with some fabulous writing with such high levels of engagement and motivation. #aloveforlearning
@u_t_n_osaunders @KelsallSchool Totally agree the FUN is there as is learning through PLAY. All important elements of our Nursery provision. The fun and play leads to improved fine motor grip for early writing. 👍
