Today my 6th grade students decided to have an “election” at recess to determine a “playground president”. The “election” ended with nearly half the 6th grade in a very aggressive shoving/shouting match between the two sides. #thekidsarewatching
@blatherwick_sam@StudyMaths@JoLocke1@LaSalleEd I think the major advantage is exposure to the concept. One of the greatest areas of struggle with my 6th grade Ss is fractions. When presented with problems such as 4x=1, they totally freeze. The practice with the inverse property alone would be valuable for my Ss.

Connecting visuals to equations is so powerful for students! #mathchat
Students were becoming frustrated with a map drawing assignment from S.S. teacher. We explored how using coordinate planes and mapping one point at a time can help. Math saves the day! 🦸♀️ #crossdisciplinaryteaching
