Kenya and Oman reaffirmed their commitment to advancing safe and orderly labour mobility and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the prevention and combating of human trafficking.

H.E. Abdi Aden Korio, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to the Sultanate of Oman, attended the launch of the National Campaign to Combat Human Trafficking (AMAN2), held under the theme “Awareness is Everyone’s Right.”

Discussions focused on strengthening Kenya–Oman cooperation in combating human trafficking and safeguarding the welfare of Kenyan migrant workers, including follow up on the proposed MoU on regulation of employment and enhanced coordination with Oman’s labour authorities.

Kenya remains committed to working closely with the Sultanate of Oman to advance safe, orderly and mutually beneficial labour mobility, strengthen protection mechanisms, and combat human trafficking through sustained bilateral cooperation.

The discussions further addressed follow up towards the conclusion of the proposed Memorandum of Understanding on the regulation of employment, as well as strengthened strategic coordination with the relevant labour authorities in the Sultanate of Oman.

H.E Gregorio Bernasconi, Ambassador of Switzerland to Oman and Yemen paid a courtesy call on H.E Abdi Aden Korio.
The meeting underscored the longstanding relations between Kenya and Switzerland and exchanged insights on various issues including peace and security in the region.

H.E Amb. Abdi Aden Korio today met a section of the Diaspora officials. The meeting discussed the upcoming Mobile Consular Service, the registration of the Diaspora Association as well as ways in advancing the welfare of Kenyans in Oman, among others

Today, Amb. Abdi Korio held a meeting with H.E Abdusalom Khatamov, non-resident Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kenya.
The meeting focused on strengthening Kenya-Uzbekistan bilateral relations as well as advancing trade, investment, education and tourism between the two countries.

On #UbaloziTime, Amb. Abdi Aden Korio, Kenya’s Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman- @KenEmbMuscat, paid a courtesy call to the Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Ms. @roselinenjogu, where discussions focused on the welfare and engagement of Kenyans living in Oman.

The meeting explored ways to strengthen consular support, enhance safe labour mobility frameworks and ways of addressing emerging challenges affecting Kenyans living and working in Oman.

Both parties emphasized the need for more deliberate and structured diaspora engagement, focusing on unlocking diaspora investment, facilitating skills transfer and strengthening the diaspora’s role in driving Kenya’s national development agenda.

PS Njogu reaffirmed the State Department’s commitment to working closely with Kenya’s missions abroad to ensure efficient, responsive and citizen-centered service delivery, while emphasizing the need for deeper collaboration to better address the evolving needs of Kenyans in the diaspora.
