The Missouri DHSS attributes the state's decline in overdose deaths in part to the availability of naloxone. But chief medical office urges the state not to take its foot off the gas.

I’m inspired by Melissa’s courage to help protect other families from the heartbreak she now carries. Every student should have access to naloxone and the knowledge to stay safe.
🧵As seniors across the country prepare for graduation, one mother in Oklahoma is making sure every high school graduate carries more than just a diploma — they carry life-saving naloxone.
As her younger son prepares for graduation, Melissa is assembling 215 emergency kits — one for every graduating senior at Shawnee High School — filled with naloxone, overdose education materials and other essentials.
Kentucky was one of the states hit hardest by the opioid epidemic. Thanks to the work of so many, we are marking the third straight year overdose deaths have decreased in our state.
We’re going to keep working to help more people beat addiction to save more lives and families.
The CDC reports that deaths from opioid overdoses declined 26.9% last year. Most experts agree the increase availability and awareness of naloxone is a significant factor in these encouraging data. We need to continue to make life-saving naloxone available to all who need it!
At @HarborpathRx, we’re working with schools and universities to expand naloxone access and educate students on these risks. We urge school leaders nationwide to follow this example of proactively protecting students.
🧵An Indiana high school student recently overdosed after using a THC vape that had been laced with fentanyl. The student lost consciousness at school - but because staff had immediate access to naloxone, they administered two doses and revived the student.
This incident also reveals an alarming trend. In addition to illicit pills, fentanyl is now being hidden in vapes, marijuana and other substances that students may believe are safe or low-risk.
As we recognize National Fentanyl Awareness Day, we also honor young leaders like Jordan who use their platform to protect their peers and save lives. Congratulations on reaching the NFL, Jordan - and thank you for being part of this fight.
🧵Tuesday was National Fentanyl Awareness Day - and we’re reminded how vital it is to keep raising awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and the life-saving power of naloxone.
Jordan has a powerful story, and is personally impacted by the overdose epidemic. His family’s story of addiction, recovery and advocacy (including his partnership with @HarborpathRx) was highlighted in a New York Times piece this past fall.
Dear @NinersNation -
Learn more about the remarkable athlete you scored in the NFL draft. We’ve had the honor of working with @jordantwatkins to save lives on campus through the wide distribution and public awareness of naloxone.

@EMDeLullo It is important that states get creative and begin urgently to spend opioid abatement dollars. These dollars can help flood streets and communities with life saving naloxone, and help in a variety of other ways.
State governments must invest in the wide availability of naloxone through their respective opioid settlement funds. There are non-tax dollars waiting to be spent to save lives!
